We joined when we stayed at a Hampton Inn last month. I poked around on the website today and it said I could find out how many points my upcoming stay (at a different Hampton) would "cost" in points. But when I (thought) was checking, it only gave the hotel's cost in cash. No where could I find out what a night's stay in a hotel might cost-point-wise. I just want some idea. And it seemed I could transfer points to my airline miles (United) program. Is that right? Is it a one-to-one, that is one point becomes one mile? I just couldn't find much info at all. Can anyone explain anything to me please?

As far as booking on points, sign in to Hilton Honors, add city, dates, etc there will be a check box on the left that is labeled " use Hilton points".

Rooms range anywhere from 30,000 points on up (for places I have looked). Hampton Inn will have lower point levels than a Hilton or higher property (Conrad, Waldorf)

Not sure about transferring but when I stay Hilton I also get US Airways miles

Hope that helps

You can usually find points rate under special rates. It is treated like AAA or Govt rate etc...

I looked up my account. Apparently all the points expired since it's been almost two years since my last stay. However, I did sign up for additional rewards for a program that I do use. I use the "Double Dip Miles" for this program rather than their Points and Points rewards.

Members since 2001.

We usually log on to see the points for a stay. If they are sold out of points based stays, I think it only shows cash. But I don't recall.

Hotels are ranked 1-10 and get their points assigned accordingly.

For specific hotels--simply search for availability as you would cash, but click the "use HHonors points" box. It should show cash and point rates. I think it can do this even if you are not logged in. But the box must be checked for the points to show.

No idea about the miles. Here is their page on that. Appears it may vary by airline. http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/earn-use-points/exchange/airline-rail/index.html

For your hotel stay, you earn about 1 point for every $1 spent. I recently stayed 12 nights at a Hilton Garden (for work), the room rate was $102, I earned 12,000+. I got a Hilton credit card and it gave me a bunch of points with a required spending amount. I have a free night at the LAX Hilton next month the Sunday night after D23, it was 30,000 points. My flight is Monday morning and I figured it would be cheaper and easier than spending the night in Anaheim.

You lose your points if there in no activity for one year.

For $10.00 minimum you can preserve them.

Mine would have expired in February of this year and no plans to travel before then.

I bought additional points for $10.00 and all the points are protected for another year. The purchase is considered an activity.

All rewards programs, that I know of, have this feature.
