Can someone explain Character Calls

I thought this was a great idea on the surface but when I put it to the test I was disappointed. I enter all the info and then it requests that I call a Disney # to listen to a recording in X amount of time. Are you supposed to tell your kids that you are dialing your own voicemail?

I guess I just assumed that it would be like other services where you enter your number and Mickey calls your phone. Your phone rings and there recording plays when you answer it.

Hmmm....not sure what # you called but when I scheduled our character calls, Goofy called my husband's cell and wished him happy cruising on the Dream.

I set it up via the DCL website. You can select the date, time, and phone number that you want them to call. You can also select the character. It's really cute and was a great way to start our trip.

To retrieve your call please call 1-800-216-9076 and enter this code XXX to hear your call.

Im guessing its because Im listed in one of the states at the bottom??

* Residents of the states WA, KY, MS, NE, TN, and LA will be given alternate instructions to retrieve their call on the Thank You page.

If I use a diff state will it work?

Im guessing there is a state law Im not aware of which makes this process useless

I'm thinking that those state have laws against robo-calls? I don't know that changing the state will alter that, as the phone number itself would tell where the phone is.

I'd guess that it's because you are in one of the states with "alternate instructions." Likely based on a state law of some sort, and I doubt you could trick the system because it will know your state by the area code. Unless your cell phone and home phone area codes are in different states.

Could you tell the kids something like... "oh shoot! I missed an important call and the message says to call back." Then have it on speaker phone so they can hear.

Well see my son is 1.5 so he isnt likely to know what is going on anyways. But I wanted it to send my wife a call to make her day a little better looking forward to the trip.
