I cannot seem to find any info about the photo system with the Disney photographers that you see at every park. How does this work? Do any of you have any comments about the goods, bads, and $$ of it? Thank you!

Photopass isn't a bad system. You get a swipe card so all photos taken by all disney photographers are kept together for viewing online. You can even send links for people at home. The grandparents got a kick out of that. As for price it varies, we didn't end up buying any because the similar photos I took came out as good as the Disney ones.

Photopass photographers take your pic, and give you a card that you can give to future photographers when they take your pic. Your card keeps track of which pics are yours. You can look at them in the park that day, or wait to look on-line when you get home. It's a very convenient system, a good idea, but IMO the photographers need a little training. All our pics turned out terrible. The castle was crooked behind us, half the picture was the concrete in front of our feet, etc. Now, maybe we just got unlucky, but with five or six different photographers, you'd think at least one of them could've centered the pic properly and held the camera level. :confused3

Anyway, sorry to turn this into a vent. It's a good system. It's free to get the pics taken (it only costs $$ if you want to buy them) and it only takes a moment. So even after our experience, we'd use it again, on the chance that they turn out better. Just realize they might not turn out so well.

I bought 4 or 5 PhotoPass pics from my May trip. The photographers sort of just wander around, you never know exactly where one will be. There's usually at least one in the common photo spots such as on Main Street with Cinderella Castle in the background, in the main plaza of MGM with the big stupid (but awfully photogenic) hat in the background, etc. There were numerous times we would have loved to have one around that we didn't see one.

The other neat gimmick is that when you order the pics you can get a Disney logo or border around it, which although it's hokey I did for one or two of mine because it really did make it look cute. I'm not techno-skilled enough to post an example here :badpc: , but if you want you can PM me and I'll e-mail one to you.

On our last trip we bought a bunch of the photographs! There were a lot of times that all 10 of us (DH, DS6, DS7, me, Mom, Dad, Sis, BIL, Nphw18mnths & Nphw4 :grouphug: ) were together and it was hard to find someone else to take our picture (OK probably not too hard but I hate bothering people). We have the ten of us in front of the castle (with Tinkerbelle sprinkling pixie dust :wizard: ), at Chef Mickey's, the HDDR and eight of us on Splash Mtn. Never againg will I see my Father and son in the first row at Splash Mtn.

Then I also got hooked and bought some of just the 4 of us. It seemed like we had a bunch of pics of the kids, and then me and the kids or hubbie and the kids. It was great to have some family photos with the beatiful Disney backgrounds.

One of my most fav. pics is the pic of us at MGM. We did one of those posed pictures...not sure where it was or what it's called. But, the four of us took a posed pic swimming with Nemo. That pic is priceless!!

Have fun.

I bought one from my last trip (but had our group pose for maybe half a dozen or more). The quality was good but my daighter-in-law is such a great photographer that hers were just as good (better). I think the one 5 x 7 I bought was around $15 incl. tax and shipping so certainly no bargain. BUT, I was happy to know we had some profesional photos taken, just in case our amateur ones bombed.

Our pictures on our camera were better or just as good as the PhotoPass. In addition to our pictures, we had four other families/kids on our PhotoPass....hope the kinks are now worked out!

We just got back, couldn't wait to see our pictures. What a dissapointment!! We were washed out, bad backgrounds, eyes closed or just posed awful!!

:wave2: Make sure to check your pictures while you are still at Disney!! We did not and when we got home we found out that none of the pictures taken in front of the castle were on our card. Somehow they didn't get downloaded. Disney was never able to locate them so we don't have anything of our entire group at MK.

Having them take your picture doesn't cost anything and if you don't want any of the pictures you don't have to buy them. You get to look at them in the privacy of your home and share them from their website. I think they keep them for 30 days.

I think it is a great system! :earsboy:
