What's the deal with the following:

1) YaYa Sister
2) Chalk Circle
3) Tag Fairies

Just wondering if I can get in on the inside jokes? :D

hey, don't forget the corn people!

I only know about #1 and #3.

YaYas is a group of people who hang out on a certain thread. Typically, its held at a fabulous lake house or on a porch under a palm tree - i.e., someplace really fabulous in cyberspace. I'm a Ya Ya wannabe, I got in too late on that thread, but its fun to read.

The tag faeries are a mysterious and creative group of people who give us that tags under our names. I'm a Mod, and it is expected that I know who the faeries are, but I haven't a clue!

I try to be a ya ya bother but I can't keep up with all them long posts..
:jester:

Well, I can clear this mystery up for you Snoopy, I'm NOT the TF.;)

#'s 1 and 2 are (well, 2 was deleted for being over the DIS guidelines, so it is a 'was') are/were just small groups of DIS'ers (not unlike the riddle group or similar) who have just made a particular thread sort of like a little personal 'sub-board' within the CB. If it gets too long (150 pages), the moderators will close it (longer than that is supposed to be an undue load on the server or database here) and invite the posters of that thread to start another.

#3 are a reference to the folks (or are they really fairies?) who stop by, unannounced, to change or add some thoughts, typically in reference to something you have said at one or more times here on the DIS, or maybe about a particular attribute of yours. The 'tags' are by your screen name/location/# of posts to the left.

Did I confuse you, LOL?

I'm out of the loop and I'm not "in the know", but this is how I see things :p:

The first two are groups that have formed here on the DIS. Some call them cliques. There are tons of them. Riddlers, Electric Water Parade, Cheerleaders, WDW Water Drinkers (LOL!) and still others I can't think of right now. They're just people who hang out together on the boards. Some stay exclusively in their group, some come out every once in a while to join in other posts on the boards, some join in everything. It's just like real life. Some people have more in common with each other, are drawn to each other and hang out together. I don't think there is anything secretive about the groups and I'm sure they'd accept anyone into their group. If you find one interesting and you feel like you'd like to be a part, join in! :) I just kind of pop into some of the groups once in awhile to say hi or do some decorating or something. :p

The tag faries are little faries that magically make a tag appear under your user name. :)

don't forget the OLT group...:o

Isn't the "Chalk Circle" actually in reference to a thread a few years back about strange things you saw at WDW. Someone was seated next to a family that drew a chalk circle around them on the pavement while they waited for the MK parade--so people would stay out of their space. ?????

The "Corn" people probably came from the same thread -- or same type of thread. A man or family eating corn straight from the can while sitting on City Hall steps at MK. LOL

I've been here TOO long!

The Chalk Circle was something that is a throwback to the Parks Game thread on the themepark board. I haven't been there in awhile, I wonder if you guys have forgotten me. :( Anyways the joke is that someone once posted about bringing chalk to a theme park to outline a circle around you so that other people wouldn't get into your space at a parade. This was just oh so funny, so it became the sort of "virtual place" where the game took place. The mods overthere like to keep things on topic, so I assume that the players who wanted to just chat and converse came over here and made up a thread to do that in. The game is actually a lot of fun. Not like the riddle game or some of the other games that occur here on the CB, it is a continuous game. One trivia question after another.

edit to add: wow when I read that it seemed like I was saying the CB games weren't fun, but I certainly meant it as two separate thoughts! I love the riddle, when I can get it!!

I do recall the man eating corn out of the can thread - I believe I was a lurker then. It was pretty darned funny. :D

I think that's where the Chalk Circle probably got it's name, but they are a group of people that hang out on the boards together. Their first thread had a different name, I can't remember it though. Maybe they were the original WDW Water Drinkers??? LOL! One of them will have to fill us in. :p

Whoops sorry, didn't see the post where one of the "chalk people" already had filled us in. LOL! :p

The corn people took on a life of their own, the likes of which may never be seen again. Those who experienced it first hand know what I mean.....

I ended up as the designated publicist for the thread after being contacted by someone at another, non-Disney site who heard about us. Too funny!

Yes, that is where it started, as Disney845 said above. That original chalk circle reference, in the funny things seen at WDW, like the corn, are DIS classics I think, LOL. Apparently it got a bit out of hand of recent.

Snoopy.....start posting!!! It's never too late! Ya gotta JUMP in!! :) We're always looking for new recruits!

We love it when Saffron comes decorating! :teeth:

I think these group threads are some of the best things the cb have to offer. They are not "exclusive" but homey. A place to get together with some fabulous people! and Meet new ones!!!

I can't speak about the Chalk Circle because I know nothing about it:confused:

I can tell you about the Yayas though........
The Yaya thread isn't an exclusive cliquey place at all. They are a very warm, welcoming, chatty, funny, wonderful & caring group of people to spend some time with!!
I was a Yaya latecomer and they have all made me feel very welcome there! I look forward to getting to spend some time hanging out with them everyday! :D Come on over check it out!
The more the merrier!!!:D

As far as the Tag Fairy question goes...I don't know who they are & will always defend their right to be anonymous!!
~~Tag Fairies~ have always been very good to me!:Pinkbounc

If it's a Ya Ya you desire
Come on in!! All that's required,
Is a sense of fun and a love of silly
Enjoying good friends and good fun....if you're willin!
We don't bite
But once in awhile with food we fight!
It's never too late
If bein a Ya Ya is how you see your fate!!!:smooth:

When I first came on the DIS.. the corn people thing was in full swing.. oh my I thought you people were very.. very odd. LOL

Just look at me now..I have become one of you... LOL.. I suppose that could mean that I am quite odd too.

C-O-R-N!!! It has become the battle cry of the Dis!

Tag fairies.. these people crack me up! The ya-ya's and Chalk circle, oh and the specific cruise people. I don't venture on those threads much.. I seem to find them after they are on the 8th or so page.. so then I am really lost. However I ADORE a good food fight!

mamajoan being "lost".... well that is a daily occurance!

LOL!
