Can points from a cancelled reservation be transferred (current use year)

Unfortunately, our family patriarch and original Mickey Mouse Clubber was not able to survive pancreatic cancer long enough to make our planned and booked trip for this coming March. With none of us wanting to go without him so soon, we are going to be cancelling our upcoming reservations.

Please let me know if my understanding is correct before I do that:

The banked and borrowed points cannot be transferred, but I will be able to use them to book a new reservation for someone during the use year that the reservation was made (so Feb 2022 point were banked into 2023 for our March 2023 trip, and Feb. 2024 points were borrowed into 2023, all points can be used to make a new reservation for someone, but only in the Feb 2023 use year).

The Feb 2023 use year points that were neither banked nor borrowed (as the trip was for March 2023) can be transferred to another DVC member after I cancel the reservation.

If your points go back into the current use year, you should be able to transfer them.

Agree with @BaybeeYoda. Current use year points can be transferred or banked (subject to the banking deadline), even if previously assigned to a reservation that was cancelled.

As long as you are canceling 31 days or more, all 2023 points can be transferred to someone else, or banked into the 2024 UY.

The banked and borrowed points will remain and be eligible for trips through January 31st, 2024.

They can be banked, but not borrowed.
