Hi ya'll!!

I am VERY new to this and hope you guys can help me - I've looked a bit for this answer...no luck. Can we walk from AK to the AKL easily? (I have two hearty boys 7 and a very tough 3 1/2yrs.) Or, do we have to take a bus? We were hoping to leave the park, walk over, look around a bit, and then have dinner at Bomas.
On the same topic. I just found out AK closes at 5pm that day - our ressies are for 6 (I originally thought the park closed at 6pm.) Do you think an hour between closing and getting to Bomas is ok? Will we have enough things to look at, etc.? Or should I try to change to 5:15 - 5:30? I've never been to Ak or AKL so I have no concept of distances involved etc.

Thanks ya'll!! SUPER GREAT board!

what does this have to do with dining?

You will definitely need to take the bus or a cab. It is not close in terms of walking, and not safe for pedestrians.

I think you will have plenty of time to get to AKL from AK, and if you get there early, all the better. You can just take in the lobby, which is spectacular, or go out to the savanna viewing area, which always has plenty of animals to see at that hour (the animals are fed then, so they come out).

If you don't feel like looking at the animals or lobby, hit Victoria Falls, the wine bar. Great list of African wines and other libations. :drinking1

Enjoy Boma!

no, you can not walk to the park from AKL. your timing for dinner sounds about right. by the time you take the bus from the park back to AKL you might have a short wait sometimes you get lucky and the bus will be waiting, but other times you will have to wait for the bus. enjoy!

So why don't you notify the board moderator if it matters so much to you? The OP was looking for some help, not a comment on which board she should post on.

HOW RUDE!!!

Not very friendly to treat people asking a simple question in such a way.

sorry if it was misposted -
Peaple ask what time a ressie should be for or how long it takes to get to a ressie from a park, their hotel, etc on the restaurant board all the time and I haven't heard of a single one of them getting banned. Must be OK.

It was only a comment, I didn't murder someone or fart in her face.
I love how sissy uptight people are! :rotfl2:

Take this one for example.

It's not like the op murdered someone or farted in her face.

Well, Toyman, I think they all have a point. I asked a simple question and as a newbie, it is those kind and helpful answers I feel good about and respect. When someone is so petty , esp. to a newbie, it's a turn-off ....but only turmed off by you - the rest of this board ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the abundance of information I can get here! I'll ignore the meanies (there aren't TOO many are there?! :) :confused3 :) !!!

I wouldn't really consider being kind to people being sissy uptight, whatever that means. Being nice to people will get you a lot farther in life than being an a*s. :)
