Can NOT decide.....CRT or Akershus?

Having done both just this month...here is my take...Akerhaus has seemed to have more Princesses. The wait staff at the Akerhaus was more attentive..didnt seem as hurried there. Food was good and plentiful. Would certainly return there again. Knut the waiter..who could be a prince charming was one of the better waiters during our trip. The castle sure its a icon and not many can get the reservations...but not worth the 2 credits of eating there for food alone thats my take... for a experience and a one time only deal just to do it..sure go for it.

We are taking our boy/girl twins to WDW for their 5th birthday. We have lunch reservations at CRT, as we wanted the "castle experience" and liked that they included the boys by giving them a sword, etc..

My question is....Is CRT really worth 2 dining credits? I really don't want to pay OOP, as I'm trying to stay within our budget. I have heard great things about Akershus, but don't like that there isn't something for my son to enjoy....(only princesses, etc.).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Heather

No matter where you dine, the princesses will usually make a fuss over the boys. I know from bringing my DS at 6 and 8.

He was aged 6 when we took him to the castle on his first trip to WDW. You wonder when the memories start to kick in, you know? It definitely kicked in when Snow gave DS a lovely kiss on his cheek, leaving behind proof with her bright red lip stick. Luckily, she helped out a momma that wasn't ready with a camera and kissed him again on his other cheek. When we went to Akershus when he was 8, he wondered if Snow would remember kissing him two years ago...

At the castle, there were so many boys, that Belle (dressed in her everyday apron dress) grabbed her own sword and had sword fights with all the boys. When we got back from our Spring Break trip, DS wrote in his journal at school all about eating in the castle. It was the highlight of his trip.

Details of our CRT lunch are in a link in my Signature.

My belief is that character interaction is largely a time and place fortune. I'm not suggesting that this happens for everyone. Others have had their own wonderful charcter interaction at Akershus. We had nice characters at Akershus, but it wasn't over the top like our castle experience.

If you want the castle experience, then go for it. Is CRT "worth" two TS credits? Probably not, but I imagine that they almost HAVE to do this to provide something of a weed-out factor and it's the natural reaction of any supply-demand situation. Would going to CRT because it is what you WANT to do be worth two credits? Absolutely.

Last fall I took my 4 year old dd to Disney. We did both Akershus and CRT.

We LOVED eating in the castle! She is in full princess mode, so it was really a treat. We loved the food we got as well. It was pricey and we paid OOP for it, but it truly is a once in a lifetime thing. Not something we will be coming to do anytime soon again, at least for a couple of years!

The breakfast at Akershus was okay. Nothing spectacular and I felt extremely rushed here. I'm not sure if it's the characters that quickly came and went, or what! I feel like she got more time when we were in the castle.

So for you, I think it would depend on your kids, and if you think it would be worth it for them, and the menu...do you prefer one over the other in regards to the food being offered?

Good luck!

I totally agree, we didn't like Akershus at all, we were very rushed, the food wasn't great (we left most of it) and there just wasn't a 'princessy' atmosphere.
Now the castle on the other hand, we absolutely love, my DD8 is still excited when we talk about going there, even my DD18 insists we go there each trip. Yeah its expensive, but hey so are most things at WDW If its in your budget I'd definitely give it a try :thumbsup2

We were able to book both for our upcoming trip in November. Since we had done Norway before, we canceled it in favor of lunch at CRT. Reading through the comments, it seems like the experience outweighs most other things. Hopefully this time I'm going to try and be a little more relaxed about things and try to enjoy the special moments with DD5 and DD3. I hope that this will be one of them.

Disappointing that there is repeated princesses. Would love to see more than 1 unique princess at each location to make the experience a little more special.

We have done both with our children (ages DD4,DS5,DS6) last time we did both.

There is nothing like eating in the castle. We did BBB before our lunch ADR. At BBB our daughter got her hair, make up, and nails done and our sons our "cool dudes". Than off to CRT for lunch.

Food was great and the kids LOVED going into the castle. Swords were fun. I think every child should eat in the castle at least once - magical.

Norway - food is also great - great app. bar. Less for boys to get excited about. One cool thing is when you walk in on the right there is a a cool chair. It is the actually chair from the pirates movie. Boys liked sitting in a chair captian jack sat in.
