Can NOT adjust thermostat at POP

Just got back from Pop. My room thermostat had the following options:

fan only, fan speed and automatic. Then the up and down arrows for temp.
The range was 68 - 78 (you could not set lower than 68 or higher than 78).

The directions to "over ride" do not work any longer. I called the front desk to have maintenance adjust my temps and they said no can do.

I got up several times a night to reset the temp as it does reset itself while you are sleeping. The last night we had balloons and they DID work to keep the sensors tripped so I didn't have to get up to reset. I guess while you sleep they sensors think the room is unoccupied and resets itself.

You know, the 68 wouldn't be so bad if it would actually run at night to keep it at 68! I've gotten to the point that I always travel with a small fan to put on the nightstand, because I just can't sleep at all if I'm too warm. I really like it about 65 to sleep, but a good steady 68 would work. I don't know why they can't put in programmable thermostats and then if you need it lower at night, have maintenance set it lower, but only maintenance could set them. During the day, they could be set to go up. I totally understand them not wanting the rooms chilled to 65 all day when no one is there, but we should be allowed to sleep comfortably at night.

Hmmm...I wonder if things have changed.....

I had them come to pop last Jan to adjust temps....

I've had them come to SSR, BCV also.....
I will probably indulge DD with a balloon that 1st day to help it out;)

I think they did change this at POP we were there last month, and weren't able to over ride it, but had no problem at Saratoga Springs 2 days later.

One thing that helped us (had to be repeated daily) was to toggle through On/Off/Auto to On and then set it to 68. The temp stayed consistent through the night. It would reset itself to Auto the next day.

The rooms are small & 68 should be cool enough. Be sure to keep the curtains closed! Otherwise it can get very hot, depending on which way you face. Housekeeping will leave them open sometimes. You could maybe request for them to stay closed.

We had a similar issue at YC in Oct. The room never got cool no matter what temp I lowered it to and the room always had a humid feel to it. We later hopped to Poly for 3 more nights and the ac was 100% better there

That's one of the things that I still enjoy about Carribean Beach - the rooms have the "hotel-style" through-the-wall air conditioners with full manual control.

Unless my memory fails me, I think that Port Orleans still has these as well.

I can't stand to be hot when I'm sleeping.

We normally stay at CBR. Now I'm worried about our first stay at PC this Sept.

Your memory is correct. At least for POFQ.

POR has the old style controls, too -- thank goodness! DH can't sleep unless the temp is below 67. We just set that puppy as low as it could go and let it crank. (Of course, the rest of us sleep in sweaters, but oh well :rolleyes1

You know, in 5 stays over the last 2 years, I have never had any trouble with the thermostat at any of the resorts, and I am a hot natured person that has to have my house ice cold in the summer. Maybe it is the size of the rooms compared to the size of the house.
