Can non-DVC members request a view at check-in?

We have a studio at BCV for a week in November thanks to a timeshare "bonus week." Are DVC owners given priority on a view, or can exchangers make requests? Last time we used a bonus week for DVC, we stayed at OKW and I didn't ask for any particular building or view. We ended up looking over some hurricane-damaged tress and shrubs and out over a highway. :sad2:

I guess view is less of an issue this trip since we have a one bedroom timeshare off-site where we will stay over night most of the week. Mostly I took the studio so we could use SAB and take advantage of Extra-Magic hours, but I'm sure we will be there enough during our non-park days to use the balcony and enjoy the resort. If we're given a choice, what view/floor/location should we ask for?

BCV isn't known for it's views. Pool view is not bad, garden/woods view can result in Epcot fireworks above the trees. Last time we stayed at BCV, we didn't request a view (and my husband is big on the view) and got the woods view with the fireworks at night.

Ok thanks. Maybe this time it's safe to take the luck of the draw. It sounds like there are no great views, but also no bad views, either, so whatever we are assigned, pool or garden, will be pleasant in its own way. The overall resort grounds and the facilities are so beautiful, we'll probably spend most of our time outdoors and in the public areas.

At some DVC resorts, view categories are booked ahead of time. At the Boardwalk Villas, either you have a room with a boardwalk view, or you don't. At these resorts, folks trading in are most likely going to trade into room in the no-boardwalk-view category.

The Beach Club has no view categories. Everyone - owner, trader or cash customer - has an equal right to make a request, which they may or may not be able to fill.

My understanding is that if the resort has specific booking categories (BCV does not) then the week you have comes from one of those booking categories and cannot be changed to another. But, you are welcome to call member services and note any placement requests within your specific booking category on your reservation.

In the past, Member Services has been able to tell me which booking category I've had.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if I have a booking category. Considering the entire week is costing me $199.00 plus a $95.00 resort services fee, the category is probably "You're staying for cheap, so take what we give you and be grateful." :rotfl2:

BCV doesn't have booking categories at all---so, if there is a particular area you want to be in, plesae do call.

Member Services and DVC have no idea what you exchanged to get that week. It might have been an AC or it might have been a bright red week in a 2BR at Four Seasons Aviara. ;)
