Can New Yorkers buy into DVC?

After reading some of these posts, I thought I would get some info on the DVC. We are huge Beach Club fans and having an excuse to go there frequently (BCV) is very appealing! So I went to Disney's site and asked for info (even though the BCV seem to have a long way to go as we saw them being built last month)-- the menu asked me to enter my state (NY) then said that DVC wasn't registered in NY and therefore they couldn't send me any info. Can this really be? Are my dreams of coming home to the BC a few times a year dashed before I could really dwell on them? Can someone shed some light on this situation? Thanks.

We purchased at the VWL but had to do it in Florida. It will soon be registered in New York however for purchase by mail. It takes New York a while to approve things I am told. The Beach Club can't register in New York until it is for sale (maybe even open, I'm not sure on this one). After it is for sale, it will take a while for it to be approved in New York. So many people are waiting for the Beach Club though, I wonder if it will even be available in New York by mail. Just plan a trip to go there to do your purchase. That way you can combine business and lots of pleasure. :)

Anybody from any state, from any country, from any planet, from any galaxy can buy into DVC while on site. If your state is not registered with DVC, that means they cannot contact you and solicit a timeshare sale, while coming to you in your state.

However, you can go to them. That is the differance. All you have to do is take a trip to Disney's Hilton Head Resort, or Vero Beach, or Walt Disney World. Once there you can buy into DVC at any available resort that they are selling. It doesn't have to be the one you are visiting.

Thanks for the answer! I guess when the BCV start selling I will have to visit WDW (darn!). :D

You mentioned you can't get info...not quite right. In March I received their book explaining DVC and a "breezy" video, also asked a guide a bunch of questions. They are registered to sell Vero Beach and/or Hilton Head in NY, so you can get the info. Just can't purchase WLV until it is approved in NY (a consumer protection thing which seems to be more of a problem for most, at least with Disney), same will apply to BCV.

Anyway, call the 1-800# if you'd like the book and video.
