Can MS split a reservation?

I've read several threads where people ask whether (or how) MS can link or combine two adjoining reservations into one, remove days from the front/back of an existing reservation, or "walk" a reservation. But I did not find any threads regarding splitting a reservation.

What I mean by "splitting" is something like the following. Suppose I have booked seven days in a single resort/room. Sometime later I find that I can only make the first (or last) four days of the trip. Rather than simply cancel the other three days, could I give/rent the remainder to somebody else by having MS split the single reservation into two separate ones?

No you can not. They can cancel days front or back but not split.

In the past they have been able to split reservations as long as it was a clean split and not carving out days in the middle.

You might want to call MS and check then because we were told no last year when we tried to split. It may be one of those Disney "depends on who you talk to" issues.

We did this in May - or something like it. We had a 1bdr booked for 7 days but later could only stay for 5. Extended family wanted to use the 2 left. We called MS and they cancelled the last 2 and then rebooked under new names.
