But a person with a short rope isn’t just going to go off specifically due to a party’s ticket media taking longer than average because there’s a slew of other similar and typical minor disruptions with equal potential to set them off. It’s not the ticket media, it’s the person.

Part of the issue is this seems to be done mostly by people who have very poor ability with technology. It's one thing when someone takes an extra 10 seconds to scan. It's another when you've got a family of 10 people and the dad is standing there switching between people, then each one has trouble scanning, he duplicates instead of finding them all, etc.
It sounds like a stupid concern until you're stuck behind it, and I'm not the only one commenting that it's a problem.

I’m not saying it’s not a problem and agree people should avoid being that group who keeps holding things up much longer than usual. I just don’t think it stands out as a reason for other people to lose their cool. In most cases the party isn’t going to continue doing this 50 times over a trip. They’ll likely learn how to expedite the process through experience, or figure out a better method to suit them.

That sounds drastic. Most of the time when a party is struggling at an LL entrance the CMs will start calling the next guests through the other tapstyle.

I’ve been on 3-5 trips a year for over 20 years & have never seen this happen. Heck, I’ve even tried to go to the other one & the CMs have said no, just wait.

I think the question has been answered. Yes, lead guest can use their phone for the whole party at any tapstiles. As other’s mentioned it is a slower, inconvenient method that tends to hold up the queue. Magic bands or hard tickets are more convenient and quicker. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

Ride photo downloads won’t happen on hard ticket or expired battery of MB, but keeping phone Bluetooth on and MDE open on attraction solves that issue. Also attractions that have a photo tap can be tapped by hard ticket or mb with expired battery.

I had concluded that if they are struggling with one group, they don't want you to go to the other tapstyle because the last thing they want is two groups both having some issue that takes their attention at the same time.

Yes. I have been behind those people: scrolling to try to figure out which card, then yelling out a name, then they're all crowding around blocking people from passing, then they match up the wrong finger to the wrong card, then they're scanning an expired card that they forgot to delete, then they're using their phone incorrectly and trying to scan their Visa to get in. Just ask for a physical card for everyone. They're free.

There's a way to do this smoothly and with precision, but it takes some prep and technical competence. I've done it, and my youngest is now old enough to scan/fingerprint their own, so I'm glad to leave it in the past, at least until my parents need more help.

If OP wants to do it - order the tickets in your phone in the same order people go through the tapstyle. I recommend a very memorable order like by age. Load them into google or apple wallet (the app sucks), and order people to match the tickets. The person scanning needs to scan in LAST. Ideally everyone walks past the tapstyle once and keeps going once they're tapped in.
