Can lead guest use his phone to scan everyone into the parks?

Do you think having the cards is easier than buying the new Magicband? We are a family of 6 we will also do a cruise. I'm battled as I heard the MB need to be charged every night and it wouldn't be easy to charge 6! But then I'm afraid it would be a pain to pull out the cards at every ride and there might be benefits on the cruise?

Can't speak about the cruise...

Do you have old magic bands? If so just use them at the parks.

Yeah I've heard negative things about the new magic bands needing to be charged often if you want the "fun" features where it lights up and makes noise etc but for most things like tapstiles and photopass its gonna work like the regular magic band without charging as far as I know.

That said I have not purchased a new one and still use the last magic band that I bought which was from 2021.

You can put the cards in a sleeve on a lanyard if you're concerned about losing them.

There are two technologies in MagicBand+. Light effects, haptic feedback, and long range communication require a charge. Haptic feedback is just the MagicBand buzzing. Long range communication is for things like automagically linking on-ride photos to your account. No charge is required for everything else the MagicBand+ device does. You could definitely use MagicBand+ devices on a cruise without charging them. I don’t think there’s anything on cruises using the long range technology. They will work without a charge to open doors and to charge things to your stateroom account.

Having the MagicBand+ is a lot easier than digging out a card. But digging out a card is a LOT less expensive than 6 MagicBand+ devices. Honestly, I don’t think you’ll be missing out if you skip them and just get cards.

I have MB from 2019 would they still work?

They will definitely still work for anything that you tap so the tapstiles, the resort door, LL....
It may not work for ride photos that are just loaded automatically like Frozen Ever After but will work where you can tap for your photo.

With that being said I didn't have any issues getting my photos without tapping with my 3 year old magic band.
But I also have my location on on my phone and I've heard that doing that may allow for the photos to be picked up by your phone.

Is it obligatory to give the fingerprint can you opt out?
You may choose to have a picture taken if you prefer not to use your fingerprint. Each time you enter a park a cm with an iPad will be called over to compare the picture to the guest entering the park. My brother chooses this option.

We recently travelled west to a family of 5. It was very easy for dad to quickly hand out the cards before entering the park and each time we approached a LL attraction. My dd and I have old MBs and that works for us but the cards are Easy too.

Ugh I wish the new Magic bands weren’t so expensive ! Disney make this easier for us. I remember the old days when they were free. I also hate doing a finger scan where everyone else’s germs have been added 🙄

If the kids are in the kids club they need to be charged. my daughters lost her charge in the kids club so they issued her a band.
So they have to use MB+? Can't they use the old type? What do they need it for anyway?

Yes you can use the old type, but from what I was told you can’t get the ride pictures with the old type? Anyone know the answer for that?

You can get ride photos but they don't automatically link if the long range functionality is gone. I think there's a way to sync your phone though.

phone doesn't always works. this is especially problematic for rides like Tron and GoTG where you don't have a screen at the end of the ride to tap you phone/MB to your picture. Pics from Tron either just show up in your account because they were capture or they don't. I think it's also same with Tiana's. I don't remember seeing the screen selection after the ride.

If you do not want to use the fingerprint, they still need you to do something to confirm you specifically as an individual. One of the main reasons for this is so people cannot share tickets or passes. The only alternative method to fingerprint I’ve heard is a photo but it is much more time consuming.
Mark my words, it's only a matter of time until someone doing this causes a brawl. It will probably be at a ride entrance from one of those families who does it with LL.
That sounds drastic. Most of the time when a party is struggling at an LL entrance the CMs will start calling the next guests through the other tapstyle.
But how can the card have the Multipass on it especially if you modify at short notice? how does it update?
Whether you use a card, your phone or magicband, they all work the same. It’s just a key to access your information in MDE.

MDE is holding all your updates, whether it’s ADRs, your onsite room, tickets, LLs, photopass, etc. You need a key to access it, either Magic Band, Key to the World Card, or smartphone wallet holding the ticket.

Turning Bluetooth on on your phone for MDE should capture the majority of pictures. We just returned from 8 days in the park, using old MBs and were fine with my phone.

Tiana does have a tap location after the ride and, if you miss seeing your picture you can go into the store and the CMs will help you find it and link to your MDE.

I would hope so. There was a definite"near incident" at SDD last Fall where we heard some bad words with glares back and forth. Fortunately, it's rare but these things happen as all it takes is too people each at the end of their rope.

But a person with a short rope isn’t just going to go off specifically due to a party’s ticket media taking longer than average because there’s a slew of other similar and typical minor disruptions with equal potential to set them off. It’s not the ticket media, it’s the person.

The magicband+ still works if you don't charge it, it's just the extra features (lights and vibrations) don't.

You got bad information.

The MagicBand+ needs to be charged every night IF AND ONLY IF you want the vibration and lights to work. It will 100% work at all touchpoints with a dead battery.
