I never, in general, have bad days. But I think I'm having one today and I'm actually REALLY depressed about it now. Nothing huge has happened, just a series of small, stupid stuff. Worst part is, I just got back from Disney Thursday and I should be feeling "recharged" from my vacation.
Today started out innocently enough:
1. Woke up to a "surprise" gloomy/cloudy day. The weather this summer has just been so crummy on the east coast. Too much rain. I got spoiled by my week in Florida. It was just so beautiful.
2. Went to grocery store to stock up on the week's supplies. The zucchini and yellow squash were shriveled up and the broccoli was BROWN in spots. The nectarines were hard as rocks, as were the peaches. I bought my SIXTH watermelon of the summer. Got home, cut it open, and had to throw away my SIXTH watermelon. The produce in this area JUST SUCKS. Sorry. The only safe fruit anymore is bananas.
3. Decided to go to the Marshall's HomeGoods store and TJMaxx as I heard they had good "dorm" stuff--better than Target. Marshall's even had an ad in the paper today advertising campus bedding, storage stuff, and things for the dorm. I go to Marshall's first and they have 3 sets of XL twin sheets. Nothing else. No comfortors, no storage units, no big pillows, NOTHING. I then go to get in my car to go to TJ Maxx and got caught in a torrential downpour.
4. I got to TJMaxx--same thing. Nothing there but a few sets of XL Twin sheets.
5. Decide to go to Target just for fun.
Pick up a few things and am looking for some non-fattening snacks etc to get on my better eating plan. I obviously had NO luck in the produce section of the grocery store. I find some Ciao Bella Maple/Ginger Gelato that states it is 100 calories for 1/2 cup. I thought "that's not a bad little snack to get me through a sweet tooth." Leave Target happy.
6. Come home and throw something together for dinner because I didn't have much luck at grocery store. Not very good. Now I have no leftovers for lunch at work tomorrow (remember, I'm trying to be good). I decide to make some egg salad. While not the healthiest food, it beats going out. I make the eggs, chop the pickles. I go to look for the new mayo jar I just opened earlier and it is not in the refrigerator. There it is--in the pantry! I never put it in the fridge. So no mayo. No egg salad.
7. I finally decide to eat the Ciao Bella. It is incredibly good. I just cannot believe this stuff is 100 calories a half cup. Think to myself "I must go and report about this on the DIS, this stuff is wonderful."
I look at the container again. My 45 year old vision failed me in the store. It is 180 calories per 1/2 cup.
So much for my "good" snack. Grrrr.
8. Bought my DD a Mac laptop for college. She's so excited to be able to use the internet anywhere in the house now. Come to find out, after spending an hour searching tech support, Verizon doesn't support a wireless connection for the Mac.
I just hated my day today. I know it could be worse and these are stupid little things, but I just had no joy in my day. I actually feel really down about it. Maybe it's just because I have to go to work tomorrow?? Maybe it's the Disney letdown, although, I was sort of glad to come back.
Well, maybe tomorrow will be better. Thanks if you made it through my whine.
