Can I wear sneakers in July?

I hate sandals and flip flops with the sort of irrational hatred that never burns out. Every time I wear them I burn my feet, even when I think I’m being super careful about sunscreen. Can I get away with wearing sneakers to DW in early July (6-11) or will it be unbearable with the heat?

I was thinking I’d pack flip flops in my park bag just in case of rain or water rides and just switch them out when necessary.

Most people do, I know my son does. I can't wear close toed shoes so I don't. I usually have about 4 pairs of flip flops/sandals that I switch out. I have Clarks flip flops that are very comfortable and padded on the bottom and Sketchers ones as well. Then I have Sketchers sandals, Teva and Earth sandals that are almost hiking like ones. Since I don't wear closed toes shoes at any time if it's over 60 degrees I don't have a problem with the tops of my feet burning since they stay tanned.

You should wear whatever shoes are comfortable to you. I see people walking the parks in everything from stiletto heels to hiking boots to shower shoes, none of which I would wear. But, if it works for them - or you!

I agree that many (if not most) people do wear a good pair of sneakers, walking shoes, running shoes, etc., even in July and August. I know I do. I have sandels for the water parks, etc. but the tops of my feet get too burnt too fast.

The big down side is rain, which can be expected daily. Sneakers won't dry well, even overnight, in the Fla. humidity.

I only wear closed shoes, whether skechers, sneakers, slip ons ... (1) bring more than one pair in case of them getting wet (2) look at sneakers made with lightweight mesh material - it breathes, is lighter and dries very fast.

A comfortable pair of sneakers will be fine at Disney. That is what I always wear. Flip-flops/sandals are popular with some, but I never liked them and always found walking a lot in them awkward. Never found it that big of a deal to dry them if they happen to get wet. July in FL is so hot, most things tend to dry quickly.

Let me go at this differently. I'm not making fun of you either so take it for what it's worth.
There are 20.6 million Florida residents. We wear an do the same things as everyone else in the other 49 states. That means we wear sneakers all year round if we choose. People here wear whatever is needed to accomplish whatever it is they are doing. I wouldn't wear a parka and Uggs (are they still around?) cause yeah, it's hot. You wear whatever allows you to walk all day in comfort. Yes, it's the rainy season so you'll probably get wet. Deal with that however you do be it a spare pair of sneakers and socks, or flip flops.

Sneakers come in different season types. I like to wear the lightweight kind at WDW. Usually they have a netted type fabric on top of the toes and built in holes in the bottom for circulation. Nice and breathable. I also find they dry much quicker after getting wet.

The ones I’ve been wearing lately are New Balance 940v3 and they can even be worn without socks for extra cool feel.

I personally hate wearing sandals when I'm walking a long distance, so I always wear standard sneakers. I've been in August and never had an issue.

I usually alternate. I have a nice pair of Teva flip flops I love. My feet are cooler and overall I like them better but my feet hurt worse at the end of the night then they do when I wear tennis shoes. Shoes are so much hotter though. So I usually alternate between the two.

You can also get foot powder like gold bond if you're concerned about sweatiness, smeliness, etc. It should keep your feet feeling fresh at least. They make travel sizes.

Wear whatever type of shoe is most comfortable for you. Most likely you will be walking double the distance you normally would if Disney continues with the social distance guidelines that are currently in place. I walked over 6 miles yesterday in 5 hours.
