can I wear a thong bikini in the disney waterparks?

Although I agree with some who have posted, wearing a thong to a family oriented water park should not be done, I don't think Disney has a rule against it. Buy and new bathing suit with Mickey on it. ::MickeyMo

I also wonder whether the OP might be a troll.

Newly registered, 2 posts only, identical "cut and paste."

Let the thread die.

Why? Did you? :teeth:

~Americans are called prudes by fellow Americans? I think we are fun loving and have a great sense of humor!!

By the way, this is an American Disney water park. ;)

Human nature and all... a thong is gonna get some looks from adults and children, myself included! Do I really care? Nope! We also have nudist colonies and nude beaches but by all means we must be provincial prudes because other countries aren't hung up but hung out with beach wear! :rotfl:

If it's a distinctly american trait so be it!

What cracks me up by some is this(no pun intended). If you give thumbs up to thongs in an American Disney water park...then butt size shouldn't matter. You must not discriminate and be a proponent of ALL people wearing thongs! That's Democracy!

Don't wear one if you're going the same weekend that we're going. I have a hard enough time keeping my husband focused. :rotfl:

OT - but a funny story. One of my sorority sisters and her new DH went to the Carribean for their honeymoon and there was a swimsuit calander shoot going on at their resort the whole first week of their stay! She was so annoyed and her DH kept trying so hard not to look. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree!
With little ones running around, maybe Typhoon Lagoon is not the right place for your thong bikini. I hate having to try to distract my child from something he shouldn't see.

Forget the children....I'd hate having to try to distract my husband from something he shouldn't see. :rotfl: j/k

I'll just answer the OPs question from a practical perspective....I'd think a water park is the last place I'd want to wear a thong bikini. It's one thing if you're at South Beach or St. Martin chillin' on the beach. But at a place with water slides and tons of kids....probably not the best use of the thong bikini. JMHO! :)

I was at Blizzard Beach last year, and there were plenty of Brazilians wearing thong bikinis. There were all sizes of butts. No ones eyes were burned out or were turned into pillars of salt.

By the way, my wife's bikini top came COMPLETELY OFF on a big water slide at Blizzard Beach. Maybe you prudes should suggest no bikinis!!!!

So did anyone really answer the question?

"Just occurred to me whether I am 'allowed' to wear my thong bikini whilst at the water-park"

So is there a specific Disney rule that says you cannot wear a thong bikini at the waterparks?

Now that I am going to wear one but no one seems to have answered the original question. :confused3

Wow, I hope none of the posters here ever go to a Brazilian beach. Everyone there is wearing thongs, and the only ones who are gawking are the few Americans! The itsy bitsy bikini is the style there and is the accepted bathing attire. The Americans in there big one piece overly conservative bathing suits looked funny! Americans in general feel they should cover up. Most cultures outside of America are not so freaked to see a bit of skin.

To the original OP. I personally wouldn't suggest wearing a thong because many of them have side ties and do not provide adequate support for a very active day in the water. If you just plan on lounging by the pool, wear it if you feel comfortable.

Hey, here's an idea: DisneyBrazil! That would take care of the Brazilian teen hordes AND we could see some hineys!

I'll be visiting WDW 5/24-5/28 and plan to spend 1 day at Epcot and 1 at typhoon lagoon, plus univ studio and island of adventure.

I am already planning my packing and what clothes to take etc. Just occurred to me whether I am 'allowed' to wear my thong bikini whilst at the water-park or whether it would be frowned upon.

It is o.k. here in Miami, but I guess things may be different in other places.

Also, does anyone know how I can go about buying entrance ticket for typhoon lagoon without having to go for the 3 day disney 'plus. ticket?
I saw a women wearing a thong at Blizzard Beach in 2003. I wasn't frowning. :goodvibes

I am going to wear a thong during Pop Warner Week while I pull my backpack on wheels along behind me and push a double stroller in front of me. I always keep resort mugs from years past in my backpack so I get free refills every year. It is easier to bring when you stay offsite but park in a Monorail Resort parking lot and avoid long tram lines at the TTC. I also plan on taking pictures for Dame Doris of people in ugly clothes throughout the parks.

THAT should get this thread closed in no time....

This is the only thing regarding swimwear on the official WDW Blizzard Beach site:

"We recommend wearing one-piece swimsuits on the more thrilling attractions, including Humunga Kowabunga at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Summit Plummet at Disney's Blizzard Beach. In addition, swim attire with rivets, buckles or exposed metal is not permitted on the attractions."

Ok, as a retired model who used to live on South Beach, I can say with authority that people who wear thongs don't do it because it's more comfortable, they like it because they like people looking at their butt.

And I don't think Disney's about showing off like that.

I mean, honey, wait until night falls and you can go shake your moneymaker at a club or something, because all you're doing is making the rest of us share in your need for attention.

And, (sigh) I'm just better looking than you even fully dressed, so give it up.

:confused3 When in Rome, do as the Romans do. What's the big deal about that? If I were in Brazil I'd expect people to dress as the Brazlians do. WDW is not in Brazil. Why assume people would get freaked out about seeing thongs in Brazil just because they don't expect to see thongs at Disneyworld?

And my response to the OP... if you have to ask, I think you already know the answer. Personally, I couldn't care less, but obviously some people will. If you don't want to offend anyone, wear a suit with more coverage. If you want some attention, let it all hang out.

7 pages and still no picture of the OP in the thong. Geez, I could've spent my time starting a new Dame Doris thread.

Why is it that everyone who thinks modesty is the key is called a "prude"? As everyone seems to be pointing out..."only in America is this a problem". Heads up guys...Disney is, in fact, in AMERICA. How many of you would honestly let your teenaged (read...under 18yo) daughters go to a themed water park wearing a thong?
And as far as all the skin being "natural"... vomiting and ridding our body of waste is "natural" but that doesn't mean I want to walk around all day watching people do it.
Besides, good ole common sense (anyone remember that) should tell you that while parading in front of hot men on Miami beach begs for you to wear a revealing piece of cloth, plummeting 50 miles a hour down fiberglass tubes in the summer then hitting the still waters is already going to give you the colonic cleaning of a lifetime but with a thong, you're probably going to be flossing your teeth to boot :rotfl:
And since I'm on this soapbox...I beg to disagree with whomever eluded to the suggestion that people wearing a thong to a family water park was not there to "flash" us...come on, please. Why would you go dressed like that if not to gather stares :earseek: , some people really do seek the attention-good or bad.
Stepping down from my box now...
Okay, I feel better. Everyone have a great day
