Can I walk from either of these hotels to US/IOA? If so, how long would it take and how far is the walk?

1. Imperial Swan 7050 South Kirkman Road
2. Comfort Inn Universal Studios area 6101 Sand Lake road

Also, is anyone familiar with either of these hotels? If so, what one owuld you recommend and why.

Any advice would be so appreciated.

According to Mapquest:

The Imperial Swan is about 2 miles from Universal and the Comfort Inn is about the same distance. I haven't heard of the Imperial Swan and I think it would be a long walk with lots of traffic to deal with if you decided to do that. I would imagine both hotels have shuttle service to Universal.

I wouldn't walk to Universal from either of those hotels. It's a pretty busy road and a lot of wild drivers out there. If you really want to walk to the park though, the Imperial Swan would be the easiest one to walk to Universal from.

The Imperial Swan is kind of old, but it does a full liquor bar and parking lot security at night(or they used to at least).

The Comfort Inn seems to be kept up better.

If you REALLY need/want to stay off-site, check out the Double Tree and Holiday Inn Universal. They are behind the PBH and are within walking distance....probably about 15 minutes or so.

I know for a fact that the Comfort Inn has shuttle service. It is a clean, no frills hotel. But it is waaaay too far to walk to Universal. (For those of you who live locally, it is next to Dr. Phillips/Sand Lake hospital).

I'm not familiar with the other hotel.

Was wondering where the Comfort Inn was , but now Phantom has said where, it is quite some distance from Universal, on Turkey Lake Rd , just before the New Walmart.
Think if i was staying of site, i would go with Bubbas mom, recommendation of Doubletree, its quite close, and plenty of eating places close by as well.

The DoubleTree & Holiday Inn are across the street from each other (on corners)...a TGIFriday is attached/in front of Holiday Inn.

As far as other eatings, City Walk is right near the parks...within walking distance.

I really am no help regarding off site hotels/eateries....we always stay onsite and eat in the parks or at City Walk.

There is also a Baymont and La Quinta in the same area as the Doubletree and Holiday Inn.

la quinta.....last year if you booked with your Sam's club card, you got a deep discount for their rooms.

Imperial Swan also offers shuttle service.

I've never been to Comfort Inns so can't comment.

My opinion - Do not stay at Imperial Swan though. My experience here was in Sep 06. My friend and I arrived at about 1am due to flights being delayed cuz of storms. We checked in, went to our room and my friend found a dead spider in her bed - should have complained but had been up for hours and just wanted to sleep. Also it had a foul smell out the front for the duration of our 1 and a half week stay. I don't have a good sense of smell (ok it sux) but even I could smell it. Thank God when it came time to change hotels and go to Disney. I was on a budget and if I had to spend more money to stay else where I would.

Hope this helps.

The one on Turkey Lake rd is a Comfort Suites, the Comfort Inn is on Sand Lake rd past International Drive.I've stayed at both and in my opinion both are too far too walk.I stayed at the Imperial Swan when I think it was a Howard Johnson and it's a bit closer and I would say close enough to walk but crossing I-4 on Kirkman just feels a bit dangerous too me.

We have stayed at The Doubletree a couple of times and nothing fancy but you can walk to Universal and its a 10 min walk and they also have a shuttle service which is free

We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City and walked to US / IOA. Took about 10 - 15 minutes. Much better than starting your day on a shuttle or coach IMO.

Liked the hotel too and would definately recommend it - I think it has changed it's name now to Four Points By Sheraton.

I stayed at the Imperial Swan about a year ago and walked to and from Universal many times. It is about a 20 minute walk. The hotel is basic but ok. I would probably stay there again but found the Travelodge on American Way was better.

Ahh, you are correct. I was definitely thinking of the Comfort Suites. Comfort Suites do have a shuttle service and I notice a lot of Brits stay there. It is clean and fairly inexpensive (usually around $50 or so a night) but too far to walk. It also has a continental breakfast. It is right next to Dr. Phillips Hospital on Turkey Lake.

I've never seen the Comfort Inn so I can't comment on that. Thanks for clearing up the confusion, DOOM1001.
