Can I Vent, problem with our room at CBR! UPDATE 09/03/08 pg 9

DH do not need a wheelchair, but some time walking is dificult for him. He been walking every day now for exercise and is doing ok. We just want it a preferred room so he can be near the food court and the bus stop. He didn't want to be tired and have to walk a long distance, he just wanted to be near of everything. And did not care to pay extra for that.

OP = original poster, or the person who started the thread.

What I was trying to understand is when you booked your trip, you were quoted an amount for your vacation. When you wanted to change to a prefered room and add insurance in April, did you pay the difference in cost? If you did, then you are expecting a prefered room. If you didn't pay any additional money, then the room category was never changed. You must know if you paid more money after requesting the changes and you should be able to calculate whether or not you paid for the prefered room or just the added insurance.

I did not read the entire thread so I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but I'm very confused. First off, as far as I understood everyone who asks for a preferred room has to pay the extra $$ for it. Second, if your main concern is your dh walking to the food court, then wouldn't it be easier for you to just go and get a few things for him rather than putting up a big stink about the room location (which your dh doesn't even want to pay for?) Also, have you even considered how much walking there is to be done in the parks?!? MUCH more than just going from your room to the food court. I don't mean to sound insensitive but if you say he doesn't want a wheelchair, yet you want a preferred location...

Every village (there are 6 of them) has its own bus stop. You don't need a preferred location room to be near a bus stop.

I'm not sure if it's a language problem or if there is something you don't understand or we don't understand ...

Have you ever been to Walt Disney World? There is a mucho mucho walking in all of the theme parks. The parks are very very large, much larger than the grounds of any hotel. The average Disney World guest walks something like 4 or 6 miles every day.

marimario:

Have you received an itemization of your vacation yet?

I would think your reservation would break down the room charge, tickets, dining plan, etc. Once you receive that information, you should be able to calculate how much you are paying for the room per night.

I think we would be able to help you better if we knew whether or not you ACTUALLY paid for the preferred location.

Like previous posters said, if you did, indeed, pay for a preferred location, then your travel agency should reimburse you for the extra costs you paid for the preferred location. If you did not pay for the preferred location and only "requested" a preferred location, then I think you really shouldn't be complaining too much.

The Caribbean Beach Resort is a large resort but there is a promenade that makes it way around the entire resort. Walking is very easy from any of the CBR villages.

Each village has their own bus stop so you are always near a bus stop. The internal shuttle bus will take you around the resort is you don't want to walk.

Also, like previous posters have already stated, Walt Disney World is HUGE!!! That's why it's referred to as "the world" by many visitors. I have worn a pedometer before and walked an average of 8 miles a day over a ten day stay. Walking is a given when you go to Walt Disney World.

Let us posters know when you receive the itemization from your travel agency.

And just in case you didn't know it....there are refrigerators in all of the CBR rooms. You can also purchase your food items from the food court and tell them you want to take it back to your room. They will put them in covered paper plates and will give you a large bag to take it back in.

When we book a year ago, the room was standard. On april he stared with diabetic complications, ex: hypoglucemia, dizzinnes, difficult walking, ect. He ask me to change the room for a preferred just in case by the time of our vac. on sept he still felling sick he is not to far from everything.

When I said he did not care to pay for preferred room I mean he was willing to pay what ever was the cost.

I do not know what is the comfusion, people book the preferred room just because they wanted for any reason. We wanted to pay just because he wanted to be close to the food court. Maybe for him is a peace of mind to know if he wanted to get something to eat (fruit, orange juice or some salad) and we do not have it in the room, he can walk to the food court and get it.

The point is, we ask for the prefered room, on april our TA send us the email with the confirmation of the prefered room and last week she said we did not have it book.

First thing is to send you some :wizard: so your trip goes flawlessly and you and your family have a great time. I think in the end it will work out.

Personally, I think it's more important to be close to the bus stop than the food court/lobby. You could consider renting a car which will cut down on your walking a bit, especially if you have a handicapped plackard.

Even if you are put a ways out, I'm positive you'll be fine. While it may not be perfect don't let that get you down. Que seas feliz y disfrutas tu viaje a Disney. No te pongas enojada.

And the suggestion here to try to switch to Port Orleans French Quarter is right on, but I have a feeling that going during free dining means all the rooms are probably full.

To to OP
I hope it works out and you have a magical trip!

Based upon other posts by this poster, this was a stay at a deep cast member discount. This is obviously somone trying to stir the pot.

Well, if he's a cast member then I know why he's trying to save as much money as possible considering what they get paid. Of course, if it's against the fire code, then it's not right.

No is not a language problem and yes we been in WDW, my dh more than me. We know there is mucho walking, that is why when he started having complication walking he started his exersice to be ready for the trip. But you know after been in the park all day and walk for soo many mile, it get to you at the end of the day. Just imagine those people who have health problems. And yes we are looking into the scooters just in case.

When we decided to celebrate our ds 5th birthday, walking for him was not a problem. Beside there are alot of people who go to WDW with walking problem and they enjoy themself.

Loaded question here: Did you pay additional money for the trip in April or did you just make the request? If you paid for the room change and the insurance the travel agent will get it handled. If you requested the prefered room but did not pay any additional money for it, there may be a language/communication error there. There are folks who request room types and don't realize that some room types cost more money. This should be able to be resolved before your trip arrives.

marimario.... I hope everything gets resolved to your satisfaction and you have a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes

I have never booked a preferred room, my question is, does preferred always mean closer to a food court/bus stop? I know you do pay extra, but what do you get for that?

My understanding of the system is when you book a regular room, i.e. standard, you get what you get. Your can request two beds, certain location, but there is no guarrantee of that.
