Can I used discount codes if I have a package?

Another basic question from a newbie planning a first WDW vacation...bear with me, please! If I get a package (which I want for the dining package, free or no), can I use the room discount codes, or not? If not, do packages ever become discounted? I can decide which way to book this!

Usually, No. If they offer them, room discount codes are just for room only reservations. Packages rarely are discounted.

I would recommend that you book what you can afford and if any 'codes' come out for your time period then it is icing on the cake. Discount codes are few and far between in recent months to depend on them much anymore.

You can sometimes get a good deal on packages... in the past 2 years, they've had stay 5 days, get 2 free; kids free; and now the current dining promotion. However, these aren't as much codes as they are special packages. I choose to use a travel agent just so that the travel agent can be the one that watches for the special packages rather than me spending my time trying to figure it out.

You can still get AAA discounts when booking a package

Sorry, I am a newbie, but we are going in mod Oct. I learned from Disney reservations that once my reservation becomes a package, they can't give me the AAA discount on the rooms. So that takes me back to AAA...

My initial visit with them (AAA) quoted me same prices as disney website, for the package. I wasn't saving anything. So I either had a bad AAA agent that was adding commission, etc., or she was dumb.

Bottom line, how do I get a discounted package thru AAA?? Or how do I get the AA discount on a package??

In the past, when Disney has offered a room only discount there would also be a discount that could be used for the room portion of packages. This year with the new Magic Your Way, there do not seem to be room discounts for the general public. There are discounted packages being offered, such as the free dining that is out now. So it looks like you might actually be more likely to get some sort of a deal by going with a package.

I got a discounted package thru AAA. I was quoted $175 less than disney website quote and took it.

So try again with another agent at AAA.
