Can I use points for existing ressie?

I am not a DVC member, but I have a question that maybe someone can help me with. If I have an existing non-member ressie at BWV and I can find someone to rent me the right number of points, can I "convert" the ressie. I just looked into renting points and I can definitely save some money, but I can't just start over because BWV is full now.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Elizabeth :)

You can not convert the ressie- Reservations made through Disney CRO are separate inventory from DVC. They consist of points turned over for exchange and the small percentage of ownership retained by Disney.

Thanks for the info. So there is actually a different group of units (rooms) for DVC vs Disney CRO? I never would have thought of that!

If you are renting points from someone they could put you on the waitlist at BWV. So, if they don't come through you stay at your origianl ressie but if they do you could switch to BWV...

Horiz88, I was just curious, What kind of rate did CRO give you for the BWV? The waitlist has worked for us a lot. Good Luck!

zurgswife: Once I rent points from someone, don't I have to use that ressie or I'll lose whatever money I spent on the rental. What I mean is, if I rent points I'll need to rent them for maybe OKW and waitlist for BWV. Either way I'll have to cancel my CRO ressie for BWV, right?

Peterd: I didn't know what I was doing at the time, so I just have rack rate for May.

Not really, but cash reservations come from a different inventory than point reservations. At some times, there may be no cash reservations, just because members have reserved all of the rooms using points.

If some members choose to use their points for a non-DVC option- those points are released to CRO to rent for cash (to pay for the non-DVC option).

For that reason, cash reservations can't simply be converted to a point ressie.

Enjoy your stay!

I miss understood your original post.. I didn't realize you had regular ressies at BWV. Yes, it is cheaper to rent points. If you get ressies from a DVC member you would probably cancel your cash ressie.. but depending on the time of year your ressies are for and how much time before your trip and the size room you are getting you might have a good chance on getting the room you want...

Someone recently rented points from me got ressies at the WL and waitlisted for the BWV for the end of the summer for a studio...I just heard on friday that the waitlist went through....it all depends on the factors I listed above....
