Can I use one ticket to make FP + reservations but gain entry by using another?

I didn't find the answer doing a quick search so my apologies if this is posted elsewhere. In about a month , we are possibly going for a short stay, no more than 3 days in the parks. We are a family that liked buying non-expiring multi-day hoppers and using them over multiple trips. My daughter has a non-expiring hopper with 6 days left but mine only has 1 day. My sister going on the trip plans to add a non-expiring ticket with days left to her MDE. My other sister who is not going on this trip has a 6 day expiring hopper that she added when she planned to use it on another trip we went on but she ended up using a different ticket. I may end up using an unused single day admission ticket I have left over from a trip about 8 years ago that we had to purchase to get free dining but never used and then hope to upgrade that ticket to a 3 day ticket our first day in the parks if this is allowed.I obviously can't use that ticket I haven't purchased to make FP + reservations so can I use my sister's ticket who isn't going on the trip to make the FP + reservations and if I have her Magic Band, can I use those FP + even if her ticket wasn't used for admission? Our last trip that sister didn't go to the parks the last day but we still had her FP + reservations and one of my kids was able to use her Magic Band to ride. But this was over 2 years ago so not sure if the system has changed.

I wouldn't think that would work since her band isn't being scanned to enter the park but I could be wrong. Also you are aware that they no longer sell non expiring tickets right so she won't be able to add more non expiring days to it.

On our last trip in 2015 we used my sister's FP + ressies on our last day in the park. My sister did not go to the park and didn't use that last day of admission on her expiring ticket and no one else used it for admission and we used our own expiring tickets. We wondered if we could use her unused FP + reservations that we forgot to cancel and one of my kids ended up using her Magic Band to ride again. At that time it worked but not sure if it still works that way. It is an unused single day ticket that I was hoping to upgrade. I would want to upgrade it to a 3 day expiring hopper. Is that no longer allowed?

OK so I finally found the thread I was looking for. It's basically on the thread about getting same day fast passes using non-linked magic bands (not trying to debate that here). While I believe what you want to do will work and I understand that you are just trying to get really your 3 fast passes for the day (so no judgment here) but the updated terms are services state:

Sept 2016 - a change to the Terms of Service (TOS) for users of MDE accounts. Guests signing in to their MDE will have been asked to agree to the new TOS. The new TOS requests that guests enter the parks with the same ticket that was used to prebook FP on the MDE. First post of this thread was changed to delete lengthy references to forms of FP that do not adhere to the new TOS, and those forms of FP will no longer be discussed on this thread (non-adherence on the thread could result in DIS infractions).

Good luck, maybe you can call and upgrade the pass that you want to use ahead of time?

OK, thanks! Well, first I need to find that one day ticket I was thinking of upgrading. Or just breaking down and buy a 3 day hopper ahead of time. Originally we were just going to take an unplanned "cheap" trip with unused water park options and spend one day in the parks (what I have left on non-expiring) to meet up with friends who will be there for a Volleyball tournament. But of course there's too much to see in just one day in the parks. This is how I end up spending way more money than planned. No such thing as a "cheap" trip.

What you CAN do to remain inside the TOS is to book the FPP's on your sister's ticket in advance. Once you have your own admission you can then use the "Change Party" feature to transfer those FPP's (one at a time) from her name to your name. Since it's a 1 for 1 swap, it won't need to look for availability and will make the name change easily. I've done this when people are visiting who don't plan to buy their tickets until the day of (don't ask) and used one of my kids' AP's to book the FPP but then changed them to their "real" ticket/name once they buy the ticket that day.

Wow, thanks, that's really good information to have! I didn't realize you could transfer FP (and I've read many pages of the FP thread, guess I missed/forgot?) Could really come in handy in situations like you described.

I didn't realize that you can transfer FPPs, thank you for that tip!

OP, as of March 2017, you could do what you are asking about - using FP+ reservations on a magic band that has not been scanned for admission.

Not sure if that has changed between now and then.

Yes, you can upgrade a 1 day ticket that was part of a free dining promotion by adding more days when you get to Disney. If you find it :)

Found my single day ticket! Whew! I asked on another thread whether the price I would be credited for would be the price paid for the ticket (back in I think 2009) or for what the value of a current single day ticket is today. Thank so much for letting us know about transferring Fastpasses. I did not know that could be done. I was able to get Fastpasses for 4 since my daughter's friend's family will be in the area for her older sister's volleyball tournament and the younger sister may join us if the schedule allows.

You don't have to scan a magic band into the park for fast passes on it to be active. Front gate entrance has never impacted any way that magic bands work.

However like posted above, Disney changed their wording in fine print so we can no longer discuss the use of fast passes on bands that weren't scanned in at the entrance.

Even though I'm sitting in La Guardia now that I'm finished with my Split Stay to NYC and returning to Orlando before I head home to CA in a couple of days, closing this thread as the non-discussion/discussion is a little oxymoronic. :)
