I made a ressie online for November but then I realized the card is in his name and he won't be on this trip. Will that be a problem when I get to the gate? Also can I add another driver? Does anyone know?

Yes it will be a problem when you get to the gate. (We once tried to change drivers from one EA person to another and it took forever at the gate, people were honking at us!) I would see about changing it to your name and/or planning to go to the counter.

National EA members can have their husband/wife/domestic partner for free. ALl other drivers are additional charge and must be added at the counter. (Unless you are renting under a corporate contract and all drivers are employees of the company with whom National has the contract.)

I just tried the same thing. I am an Emerald Club member and my wife and daughter are taking a weekend trip to Tampa. I called National and spoke to a CSR that told me it was Ok to do it. She said that I should make the reservation online and then call them back to change the pickup driver to my wife. I made the reservation, called back and spoke to a different CSR that told me that my wife would have to have her own Emerald Club card. I pressed her further, telling her what the first CSR told me. She spoke with her supervisor and confirmed that we could not do it.

So I went to MouseSavers and retrieved the link to a FREE Emerald Club membership page (this is the link) and signed her up with her own Emerald Club membership and made the reservation in her name.

Hope this helps,
Steve

Thanks Steve- you saved me a phone call. I am going to get my own Emerald card right now. Thanks for the link. I can't bare the thought of waiting in a rental line!

actually EA lets your children >21 drive as additional drivers.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, the Vehicle may NOT be driven by anyone except any Additional Authorized Driver and me. An Additional Authorized Driver is an individual who (i) is a capable and validly licensed driver, (ii) is at least 21 years of age (lower in some locations, 18 for New York Rentals) (a young renter fee will apply for drivers under age 25), (iii) has my prior permission to drive the Vehicle, and (iv) is either a member of my immediate family who permanently resides with me, or my business partner, employer, or fellow employee who drives the Vehicle for business purposes. My immediate family members are my mother, father, son, daughter and a spouse regardless of whether he/she has the same last name, is a common law spouse or a same sex domestic partner. The Additional Authorized Drivers and me are referred to collectively in the Agreement as Authorized Driver(s).

Bobb-o,

You are right about those that can be additional drivers, but the CSR at National was telling me that I would have to be available at pickup time to use my Emerald Club number. I was hoping to add my wife's rental to my Emerald Club points.

Once the car is picked up by the "reserving" person, those others are allowed to drive it.

The kids may be allowed to drive, but, I wonder what the under 25 fee is per day.
