Greetings! 1st let me thank everyone for all the helpful info I've read on this board. Now my question:

Can my buddy Tom and I easily exchange our DVC contracts?

He's got 170 pts at BWV (March use year) and 530 at VWL. I have 150 at VWL (August use year). He'd like to have all his pts at VWL and I'd be happier with the BWV. To us, the perfect solution seems to be just exchanging contracts. We're both currently financing our contracts.

Has anyone done anything like this and/or what is anyone's opinion on the ease/mechanics of it?

If it's a pain in the behind, we're not doing it!

Since the contracts are being financed, it's probably not going to be as easy as if they were owned free and clear.

I'm willing to bet though that a title company could help you out with something like this though. One thought would be to contact the Timeshare Store and see who they use for closings; since that title company would be familiar with how DVC works, it might be easier than some other title company.

Also, it's probably going to cost some money, since you'd need to pay for the closing costs and recording fee's.

Maybe others have some ideas.

I agree with Mickey, Walter, the real hitch is the fact that the current contracts are financed, and swapping them is going to make the loan issuer (Disney or otherwise) want to redo all of the paperwork.

One suggestion is to "pretend" you've swapped until you've both paid off the loans - you make ressies for Tom at VWL and he makes yours at BWV. This way, you can both benefit by the other's 11 month advantage.

Then, once you're both paid off, contact someone like Timeshare Closing Services in Orlando and they can fix up the swap. It will cost a little but not much.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions.

We'll let everyone know if we're able to work anything out.
