Can I take my tent

in my carry on luggage? It is extremely small and will comfortably fit in my carry on duffel bag. I've searched and can't find this info anywhere.

Sure! As long as it's not in liquid form and over 3 ounces!

Yep, you can. However, expect them to hand inspect your carryons and swab it. If it has been near a campfire recently, it will set off the alarms.
