Last trip we took a tub of Miniature Heroes as we do love Cadbury's and hate the US chocolate but I'm not sure what the situation is on this now?

I think during the foot and mouth crisis you weren't allowed to take it in? Maybe I'm wrong!

Does anyone know whether there are restrictions still in place on certain foods - especially chocolate!

Thanks

Mazzy you will be fine with your Choccy!!!!

Our DS has an eating disorder and we have to take all of his food in our suitcases for a 3 week trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, chocolate is fine.

I always take some Brit biscuits and chocolate - American chocolate is not nice!!! I usually pack them in my suitcase. Don't forget though, real UK Cadbury's chocolate can be bought in the UK Tea shop at Epcot!!!!

As far as I know most things are ok as long as they are sealed in their original packaging

My understanding is that you can't take any fruit, vegetables or meat because of the risk of introducing disease. Chocolate, sweets, biscuits etc. are fine.

When we took our choccie in our hand luggage we weren't allowed to take it so had to scoff it all on the plane (felt a bit sick!).

I'm sure if you put it in your suitcase it should be OK.

Check out the bars of Dairy Milk in Walmart - they're made by Hershey!! It tastes a bit like an Easter Egg rather than the 'I just scraped this off my shoe' flavouring of a Hershey bar

Happy scoffing!

Welcome to the DIS Dozzie :)

Well, I've never heard of customs caring about chocolate or the like before...except perhaps if it's already been opened - they're really not keen on opened packets of any sort of food.

Regardless, it makes no difference if you carry in your hand luggage or suitcase as when you pass the customs check, you'll be carrying both! A couple of trips back I got stopped by US customs (the only time in my life I've ever had to open a suitcase for a search) and in it I had 2 packets of Crumpets (don't ask!) which I was worried about as it's a) fresh food and b) wheat based - the guy didn't so much as bat an eyelid!

Or Penny maybe it's because they prefer Brit Chocolate to their own and have a secret stash ;)

Well, we will be taking teabags and a big jar of Nescafe Gold Blend - told the instant coffee in the US is awful!
