Can I take advantage of rider swap like this?

I'm not quite sure I'm following your question. You can only get the rider swap pass for a specific attraction if you have a child that is unable to ride the attraction. So, for example, at BTMRR, you will need to take the baby with you to the attraction, ask the CM for the rider swap lanyard/pass and then someone(s) will need to remain outside of the ride (and queue) with the baby while the others ride the attraction. Closer to the point of boarding, you will exchange the lanyard/pass for the actual rider swap ticket which would be good for up to three individuals to ride that attraction later. You cannot get a rider swap pass at BTMRR and then try to use it at Space.

Sorry if it was confusing. I was just implying that we would not be spending the whole day together using RS passes. It would just be nice for my husband and I to ride something together, not to use a RS from one ride at another. But I can see how I didn't make any sense - sorry. :)

In our experience last November, the baby or toddler too young/too short/too scared to ride does not wait in line. The baby waits with the other adult outside the ride (in our family, it is just me, DH, and DD). Also, in our week long visit, neither of us were ever given a lanyard. We just asked for a RS pass whenever we saw a CM, as different CMs hand them out at different times depending on the attraction. Most give them right before you board. On BTMRR last time, the CM actually handed it to me after I was sitting in the train! No CM ever questioned to see my baby or even gave me a second thought when I asked for one. All CMs were super nice and very accommodating. Often, my husband would ride something while I was feeding the baby and then when it worked with our schedule later in the day, I would return and use the pass. It was nice to be able to enjoy the park as a family, especially since our DD was 6 months old at the time.

Six adults and one baby - 3 adults could ride together, 3 adults and baby wait. Get swap pass. Other 3 adults ride together while first 3 wait with baby.
Or you could do 5 adults ride together, then the waiting adult could ride with 2 others

Thanks! We only plan to meet up for a couple rides and enjoy them together. There are two younger adults (celebrating a graduation) in the group and I have a feeling they'll be the ones riding twice. :thumbsup2

hurleysweety, I think you'll be okay because you don't need to have the baby with you when you return to use/redeem the Rider Swap pass. On the other hand, I would not count on being able to get the pass without having the baby be present, especially on crowded days. I know that RSR does (generally) require the child to be present (we were always asked). The other attractions may be more lenient, but it might depend on the CM and the attraction (I would bet Matterhorn is being strict right now).

Rider swap is so that the person waiting with the baby doesn't have to miss the ride entirely. Disney allows a companion so that person also doesn't have to ride alone. It's not intended to be used so that everyone in the party rides twice (or in this case 3-4 times) with minimal wait. While it might work if the CM doesn't recognize the party and say no, it's not really how it's intended to be used. An easier way to do it might be to just tell the kids that they were take turns riding things twice. So someone gets to do Space twice and someone else gets to do BTMRR. Then you can use the swap right away and not have to go back to attractions later to use it.

Not trying to break some kind of Disney rules after all I'm a strong believer in abusing something can lead to it going away. I honestly didnt consider it abuse since we both would be waiting in the standby line. Either way it would probably ruin the RIDEMAX plan. I will do what you suggested above though.

Maybe I just had that "I haven't slept more than 5 hours in a row in over 6 months" look so they just knew I was a mom...:rotfl2:

It will be interesting to see what happens with RS passes when we go back this next week as summer crowds start to steadily increase!

In theory yes your plan can work. It really depends on the CM though. I've been denied RS passes in the morning when lines are short.

I have as well. I've been told that they aren't needed because the line is so short that the second person will easily be able to ride quickly when the first person is done.

I've also had the folks at RSRs make me not only be within eyesight, but also come right up so that they can see the baby in the stroller before they'll give out the lanyard. We never count on me being able to be on the other side of the park when requesting a RS pass. I always try to be close enough that if the CM wants to see the baby, they can.

If you have a child that is 5 and tall enough for most of the rides but very scared can you get a RS? I really want to ride Indiana Jones and I won't get to without standing in the line again for a long time and being separated from the family for awhile. I know my 5 year old will not want to go on it or Splash Mountain. I don't think he will want to go on Space either. I think he will be ok with Cars and Thunder Mountain because they aren't completely dark, so I am not worried about those because we can all be together.

So, will CMs let RS be used if the party is all adults? (there would be six adults and one baby.

Absolutely.

Me, DH, my brother and SIL, plus my son, used swap in that way. It's not about letting kids ride more than once, it's ultimately about letting the person who watched the too-small kid(s) ride after the others do, without having to literally double the waiting time.

DH and I got to ride Space Mountain while brother and SIL watched DS, then brother and SIL rode. On Indy I waited with DS while the 3 of them rode, then I insisted my SIL come with me to ride when we swapped.

You could, but then Adult #1 and all five kids waited in line, and then Adult #2 and all five kids (again!) waited in line.

I think that's their plan. To have two full waits (with different parent each time) to generate two swap passes. I can't see that this is something bad, but if you do get the same CM they might get twitchy about it.

How does RS work with the pass? Do you go to the FP line or what?

Oh yay, I guessed correctly! I'll never need this feature, I was just curious.

I admire this as it's an opinion that not everyone shares. I've run into my fair share of "If I can get away with it, then I should do it" people as of late so let me give you some recognition for trying to follow the rules. After re-reading your scenario several times to make sure I understood, this to me definitely falls into a gray area. I could see the argument both ways as to whether or not this is right. This is a toughie for sure.

Yes, that's what we did for Tower of Terror. DD was certainly tall enough but there was no way she was getting on that ride! So DH went with our son, then swapped with me and I went with DS again.

For Indy and Splash, using single rider is a lot faster than going through the FP queue. If you have another person riding with you again that's a reason to swap, but if you're going alone or the other person doesn't mind riding single then that is a way to do. Is he afraid of the dark? Be aware that Matterhorn now has a dark section at the top of the lift where it's dark and you hear growls. You might want to get the swap and have someone ride it to judge if that will be ok. I think BTMRR has 1-2 tunnels that are dark, but you move through them pretty quick.

Oh that's so good to know. Thank you.

This is good information. I personally do not mind skipping Matterhorn and believe it or not he probably will ride BTMRR. He did in WDW. I think we are going to try the single rider lines more this time. I think even with our other two boys being 8 and 10 my DH or I can go first and if meet them at the exit if they get put into a different car. We haven't tried this yet but if they don't mind riding alone once or twice to be in a shorter line we might try it.

Thank you.
