Can I still use old FP too?

Hey all! I'm staying at Kidani for a week, starting Dec. 30. We have magic bands and are signed up for FP+ but I am a little miffed that I can't get FP+ for Epcot's TT and Soarin'. I'm also miffed that I can only get one FP+ for Space Mountain and two other rides (as opposed to, for example, getting FP+ for two space mountain rides and one Big Thunder ride). Blah, blah, complain, complain, but I'll deal with it.

Here is my question: I was told, a few weeks ago, that you can still get room cards and use them to get the regular fast passes in addition the FP+. Is this still the case? And if so, does anyone have reason to believe it will be any different next week? Thanks!!!!!!

We just got back Wed night. We received room key cards, but I don't believe they work for fast passes. I think paper tickets will work, but ours were in the MBs, so we didn't receive paper.

I agree with you on the restrictions, especially the limitations at Epcot and DHS. I'm hoping those restrictions are just temporary, or only for late in the FP+ reservation period.

However, I think FP+ is still better than the old one-at-a-time system.

What kind of ticket do you have? If it's separate, like an annual pass, you can use it in the old machines (except AK where they are not using them).

I don't have physical tickets. I called guest services, gave my credit number for tickets, and they sent me magic bands (which, as far as I understand, are our tickets) but I'm told they give you regular card keys too (with park admission not them). Am I incorrect?

They do but these are not able to be used in fastpass machines- hence not having the park admission on them. If you don't have a separate ticket then you have no way to get a legacy FP.

Your room key may or may not work, there have been mixed reports. If it doesn't work, I would ask about getting your ticket separated, not sure if they still do that.

With 3 APs, 5 room keys from last weekend, and a bunch of old keys - I was able to pull 28 FP-s at a time last weekend.

odd....
since legacy FP machines check for ticket media (so room key would need passes attached), and that the ticket was used for entrance that day, that is really peculiar.
did you use the actual machines? those are some major glitches, if so.

i'm glad for you, just curious

We used our APs to pull traditional FPs last week. BUT, they didn't always work, had a few problems at TT in Epcot and the CM there was very nice and said there kinks in the system with the addition of the FP+ and he handed me the FP that wouldn't work.
HOWEVER, the same thing happened the next day at the MK and the CM there was very rude and basically scolded me in front of my kids for trying to cheat the system. I told her the CMs at our resort had told me I would be able to use both systems and she told me they were WRONG and I was taking FP away from others. I just walked away and let her continue on her rant.
Pretty much thinking they will be doing away with the old machines soon and only FP+ will be available. Not my preference but oh well. Still better than the days with no FP at all

How? Did you just bring them and they worked? Did you have to get someone at the hotel reprogram than for you?

Actually, I gave them to a friend who was going and I wanted her to just test them out. Nothing had to be done. Just stick them in the machine, and out came a fastpass. I had 3 room only keys (which I expected to work), and 3 that had room and used up park tickets (which I didn't expect to work). She reported back that all 6 worked in all 4 parks.

It's a temporary glitch during the FP+ rollout. Kind of like when they first rolled out FP and the machines would take any card with a magnetic strip. I just put in credit cards out of my wallet and out came the FPs.

We have AP's and Magic Bands….going over MLK weekend…we were hoping we could still use both since there are so many restrictions to the FP+. Realllllly seeming like they will be worthless for parks like Epcot where there are hardly any rides and on top of that you can only pick 1 ride or the other between Soarin' & TT. Not looking forward to the 1 park / day restriction either. But I didn't know that there was something not being used at AK. We were hoping to pull legacy FP's there.

too funny... i just keep picturing throngs of people using everything in their wallets, which defeats the purpose of MBs
only disney IT would miss such a "glitch" that large.

on a side note: our good friends were told (by CRO) that guests who help by participating in MB testing are welcome to also use legacy FPs, as a "thank you" for the help.

There is no way I'd put a credit card, or anything else I wouldn't want to risk losing, into one of those machines.

The room keys still have magnetic stripes and, even with magic bands, I'll still get card keys, no? So, sounds like maybe they'll work and maybe they won't.

No legacy fp at ak right now.
