Can I "sell" reservation?

You cannot change the main name on the reservation without cancelling the reservation.

I'd assume that trip insurance (of the type that doesn't provide for cancellation for any reason) would not cover pet health issues.

was going to suggest checking on whether the insurance would provide for a cruise credit or a rescheduling rather than a refund but I see that it did.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, responses and ideas. After having called DCL at least twice a day for the past week, with no luck or pixie dust, I was pretty sad.

All I had to do was read the fine print and call Allianz - they explained - no, our dog's illness is not covered but DCL will credit 100% of the canceled cruise cost to a future cruise - awesome!

I'm happy that you were able to resolve this.

One question - who told you DCL will credit 100% of the canceled cruise? It appears in your post that Allianz told you that. Or did you actually call DCL and get this information? I would think that Allianz can't commit DCL to anything.

My heart goes out to you. My beloved little shih tzu mix was found to have kidney cancer and we lost her with in a 3 week spa about a month before our alaskan cruise last May. It was horrible and we were in the same what if pickle prior to. Sadly it became cleAr worrying about kenneling her somehow was t going to be a problem
