We want to stay at 2 different hotels this time; 5 nights at CBR & 2 nights at WL....we thought we would get a length of stay pass for 5 days....therefore, the last 2 days would be just time outside of the parks & spending time at WL....do you think it would be frustrating to be at WDW & not be able to go into any of the parks? The first day (Saturday) would be us just settling in & going to Chef Mickey's for dinner. The next day we would start our LOS & complete it on Thursday night. Friday & Saturday would be just hanging out & flying home Saturday evening...Any thoughts on this? Thanks. If it helps any, this will take place last week of August.

Actually, your plan of action sounds pretty good to me !A nice way to unwind and relax before you head home ;-)
And, if you wanted, you could go over to Downtown Disney for a shopping day on one of those last two days as well.

We usually start our vacation on a Saturday. Keep in mind that we have AP's. After checking in Saturday afternoon, we love going to MK and just hanging out catching the evening parade. No hussle and bussle, just a way to relax after the flight. The little one usually gets does a few things in Fantasy, but that's about it.

I think it would be more frustrating arriving on Saturday and not going to any of the parks in the evening. JMO.

Sounds like a good plan. Although you may want to consider a 5 day hopper plus pass so you could mix a few days at a water park.

On our first trip we were there for a week. We had 5 day park hopper passes with 4 plus options.

It drove me nuts not to be able to go into a major park each day of our trip.

The passes forced us to slow down and relax. However, by late afternoon of our rest days, I was ready to hit a park.

From now on we will have passes that allow us to enter a major park each day of our trip.

I think a couple non-park days is nice. Of course I live an hour away so I have a different view. But we take a trip in June, usually over Father's day, to just hang out at a resort. This year it's the Beach Club for three days and no parks. Last year we stayed at Ft. Wilderness during the same time frame and went to only Blizzard Beach.

August is the hottest, most humid time of the year (next to September). I think you'll be happy for the break.

even though you are staying at 2 different resorts ,your lenght of stay pass should be good untill you leave on that saturday night:

I think it sounds good, but if it were me, I would get the 5 day park hopper and spread the break days out a little, like take a day off while you're at the CBR to go the pool, one of the water parks, DTD or something. I think the park hopper would be a little more cost effective too. I have to go to the Magic Kingdom the night before we leave, just to kind of say "good bye!" until the next trip. :)

No, your plan sounds good. What would be more frustrating is dealing with the transportation to the parks from WL. It is definitely not the best.

If there is any resort on property that lends itself to offsite activities, it would either be WL or AKL.

Go and enjoy!:)

I would go with a 6-day regular parkhopper plus also, because:

--Actually a little bit cheaper than 5-night UPH

--I always have to go to a park on our last full day at WDW, would be disappointed if I didn't

--Unused plusses and park days never expire

--You can use the plusses to go to a water park on at least one of your off days.

--WL is just a boat ride away from MK!

As a non-AP holder, we usually arrive on a Saturday and don't go to a park. Last December, we arrived around 9 a.m., checked in at Contemporary, had breakfast at Boma, wandered around AKL and looked at the animals, rode the monorail, had character meal at 1900 Park Fare, road boat launch, saw the fireworks over MK from the CR viewing area, and saw the Electrical Water Pageant--great setting of the mood, didn't miss going to a park on that first day at all (but as I said above, we definitely would have missed not going to a park on our last day).

I guess I'm not sure what the difference is between a park hopper plus & a length of stay pass.....sorry, I am probably getting off topic & belong in another forum.....send me in the right direction & I will get out of the resort forum! LOL

A length of stay pass allows you in the parks for the number of days you are at the on-site resort. Also know as the Ulitmate Park Hopper. With these passes you can enter the parks, water parks, DQ, or PI as many times as you want from the moment you check in until midnight on the day you check out.
The park hopper plus can be used by anyone (on or off site). It never expires either. Depending on the number of days on your pass you will get a certain number of plus options (letting you into BB, TL, DQ or PI).

I tried posting this question and it was much too confusing, so I'm going to try and simple it down!

If you are staying 5 nights at CBR and you purchase a 5 day LOS pass, aren't you covered from Saturday through midnight Thursday? You said you had planned on starting your LOS pass on Sunday so it was just a little confusing to me. If I understand how the LOS pass works, it seems to me you would only need a 4 day LOS to do what you're wanting to do. If I'm wrong, someone please explain it to me!

If I'm getting this right, you'd have to be sure that they'd let you take off a day from the LOS pass. I've heard that they can, I just don't know if it's a sure thing or not.

Until we got Premium Annual Passes, we always preferred LOS passes. It requires much less planning. We could go to the water parks as many times as we wanted along with all the other extras like DisneyQuest. We love DisneyQuest and a LOS pass is the only way to have unlimited access(other than the PAP). One other thing...it's my understanding that if you split your stay between resorts, you have to purchase LOS passes for each part of your stay separately.

Other than all the confusing questions I have, your plan sounds great to me. Staying at WL you have easy access to Fort Wilderness. Between those 2 resorts, you'll find plenty to do for the last 2 days of your trip!

you are all so knowledgeable......a 5 day LOS would be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday....right? We love DQ too, so we definately need something that will cover that....I don't know what you mean about having to get 2 LOS passes when splitting up the lodging.....why does that matter? We are still staying on disney property.....

Absolutely nothing wrong with your plan ~ go for it! :bounce:

I'm not sure how the Ultimate Parkhopper pass works when you are changing resorts, but:

--UPHs are sold on a "-night" basis (like hotel rooms), not a "-day" basis like the "regular" Parkhoppers. So, a "5-night" UPH starting on Sunday would let you into the parks from Sunday a.m. through FRIDAY p.m.

--UPHs generally run from the day of check-in through the day of check-out; however, if you buy them at the guest services office at your resort (rather than having them added to your reservation), they will, at your request, leave off your arrival and/or departure day. So, if you arrived Sunday afternoon for a 5-night stay, and didn't want to waste money paying for park admission for Sunday, you should be able to buy a 4-night UPH that runs from Monday a.m. through Friday p.m.

on how many times you've visited WDW. If it's your first couple of times, it might be hard to be there and NOT go to the parks. But, if you're a frequent visitor, I'll betcha' you'll be just fine. We go every year and we always take 1 (sometimes 2) days off from the parks. There is plenty of other diversions at WDW and Central Florida. You can even go to the beach for the day. We like to take a Fort Wilderness Day - canoeing, visiting all the animals, hay ride, campfire sing-a-long. Another good idea is to just chill out at your resort, which is especially nice if you stay at YC/BC and you can do so at Stormalong Bay. Lots to do!

Excuse my grammar above. I mean: There "are" plenty of diversions at WDW. Not "is". What a dingbat - I really can speak the English language. I swear.

I would definately go with the 5 day park hopper plus like someone mentioned in an earlier post. That way you will have 5 full park days and you can take another day to do a water park and disneyquest. Also, as mentioned, the unused days never expire. And it will definately save you money - a 5 day park hopper plus is less than a 5 day ultimate park hopper.

I don't know it for sure, but I had read on these boards that a LOS pass could only be purchased for the length of your reservation at any particular resort. That is, if you have a 5 night stay at one resort, the most you could purchase would be a 5 "night" los pass. If you then stayed 2 nights at another resort, you'd have to purchase an additional 2 "night" LOS pass. If you decide not to do parks on your last 2 days, it wouldn't matter anyway, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Another poster was clearer than I was in explaining the LOS pass, but if you check into your resort on Saturday and don't want to go to the parks on that day, you'll need to make sure they will take Saturday off your LOS pass. Every night you're at the resort is automatically included in a LOS pass. So, if you want to start the LOS pass on Sunday and have it end on Thursday, you'd need a 4 "night" LOS pass. The pass would start Sunday and it would be good until midnight on the day you check out....Thursday. So, when comparing prices, you'd look at the cost of a 4 day LOS pass vs a 5 day parkhopper pass.

If you want to do DisneyQuest a lot, like we do, a LOS pass is the only one that gives you unlimited access. In our case we usually go to DisneyQuest several times and we like to go to the waterparks for a couple of hours in the afternoons almost everyday. A parkhopper won't give us that flexibility.
