good morning everyone! i took a video clip this am of my youngest ds...and stupidly, i didn't realize i had turned the camera on its side to film!!! ugh!! is there anyway to rotate my video clip?? i am kinda illiterate when it comes to this stuff! i know how to rotate a still pic...but i can't find a way to rotate this video clip.
thanks for any help you have!

Try turning your monitor on it's side! Works for me! :rotfl2:

Actually, I hope someone knows a way. I do it ALL the time and would really like to rotate them all.

i have a stiff neck already this am from trying to watch the darn thing on my side!!!

There is no 'easy' way that I have found to do this. The advanced video editing software can do this. (I have Sony Vegas, which can).

Unfortunately, even with that, the 'shape' is wrong and you'll either have black bars or cropping.

Yeah, I was gonna say you can in Vegas but you still have black bars if you view it on a tv. I don't see that as being a big deal though. They say the verticle shot is more pleasing in photography, why not in video? At least it will be a little diferent!

Pinnacle's Movie Studio is easy to use software and it MIGHT be able to do it. I have not used it in a while so you might check it out.

this is such a bummer!! i can't believe i shot the video this way!! ugh...i'm so mad at myself!
the reason for shooting the video...this is my ds's bday weekend! so for a joint easter/bday gift...he got a power wheels jeep. he was sooo excited...only i taped it sideways!!!!! such a bummer!
thanks for the help though!

Is it a camcorder clip, or a smaller photo clip? If the 2nd, it may be small enough to upload somewhere and have someone help do it for you!

Take a look at the file size and post again!

I have used the free VirtualDub program to rotate videos before. It includes a "rotate" filter that will straighten out your video. You will have to re-encode it, though - Xvid will probably be the most straightforward codec to use, that will give you a completely free solution. For more help with VirtualDub, you may want to check out the huge www.videohelp.com site, which has a zillion tutorials.

Now, if ffdshow had a rotate filter built-in, you could just use a regular movie player to show it rotated, but it doesn't, so you can't, unfortunately.

Another V-dub recommendation here.
I use it on a regular basis to rotate video 180 degrees.
I use a clamperpod to mount a video camera inside my brothers racecar. The easiest mount point is on the rollbar, but this makes the camera hang upside down.
I rotate the video 180 degrees before I edit and encode. I once tried editing before the rotation but it got confusing and gave me a headache.

I have done the same thing several times - never thought to ask for help here. I will have to check out v-dub when I have some time to play.

thanks for that! i'm going to check it out tomorrow...i'm too tired right now! but i'm so glad that there may be a way to fix it!!! thank you thank you!!!!
