I am new to the DVC so I was wondering if I could get some help. I have a large number of points I need to rent and there does not seem to be many who have such a big number. So lets say I would want to stay at * and it is * points. Would I be able to rent * from one owner and * from another. Could you hold a reservation without the total number of points? I hope this question makes sense and any responses would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yes, you can rent two different reservations from two different owners, and then ask them to have the reservations linked.

It would have to be for whole nights so the split in # of points would be whatever it is per night.

So, you might book 3 nights with one owner, and 4 nights with the other. The biggest piece is coordinating to ensure that you get the same room type and view.

And, you would probably want to seek points from * owners so you can take advantage of booking far enough out to ensure you get the whole thing.

Good luck!

Are you currently a member? I was a bit confused by your post, because you start by saying you HAVE a large number of points you need to rent, but then you say you NEED, so I'm a bit confused.

If you are a member and want additional points transfered into your account, you would only be able to use points from one other member, since each member is allowed only one transfer a year.

If you are NOT a member, you don't actually rent points, but enough points for a specific reservation which the owner of the points makes for you. You can certainly rent from two different owners, but each owner would have to make seperate reservations and then have them linked into one. That is a bit tricky, since both owners would need to communicate and coordinate that action.

Basically, to a non-member, points are worthless since you can't do a thing with them. You'd be renting a reservation from a member and you could rent from multiple members if you needed. All the nights would have to be linked, all reservations for the same type and location villa, including booking category, if you wanted a continuous stay.

You won't be able to make the reservation unless you own the points. Only the member can do that.

But if you are already a member, you would only be able to get one transfer in per contract per year, like Diane said.

Related to this topic, I would like to verify... when points are transferred in, I believe they retain the same Use Year and expiration as what is on the contract for the owner transferring the points to you. Is this correct? Also, can I bank points that have been transferred to me? For instance, if I wanted to rent points to use in December 2011, could I get a transfer from someone of their 2010 points and bank them in my account to use in 2011? Thanks for any info!

You can bank transferred points. You cannot borrow transferred points. And you can't transfer banked points.

Transferred points do retain their home resort and Use Year.
