So we are 100% going (already have plane tickets) to WDW x-mas week 2011 (myself, DH, DS9, DS8, DD6). We have gone x-mas week before and we LOVE it:love:. We are those odd people that don't mind the crowds. We plan well for them.

We always make dinner ADR's to help us deal with the crowds. 180 day ADR date is coming up in June.

DH's family also has a reservation at the same resort but no airfare. They say they thing they are going but will not know for sure until the fall. If they go it will be a situation where I plan everything they they follow. We have done vacations in the past with them and they are great - never WDW with them - but we have done universal for a week together.

If they go they will want (and we will) to eat all meals together.

My question is - should I make our ADR's for 10 and if they decide to cancel can I call and drop the # to 5. I don't want to make all my favorite ADR's in June for 10 and then have them cancel in Oct. and my lose everything and have to start over.

It is x-mas week so ADR's will go quick.

I believe the answer is no.

What I would do in your shoes is make the reservations for ten. If they decide NOT to come, try your best to replace your original reservations with reservations for five. Anything you can't get switched over, just let them know at the podium when you check in that part of your party wasn't able to make it. From what I've read on the boards, that happens all of the time and isn't a problem. (But anything you *can* cancel, I would, as a courtesy to other guests.)

HTH.

You can call the Disney Dining line and get them to reduce your number. If they can't, and you can't get a new reservation just show up with 5 short and explain at the podium. It shouldn't be a problem. If any of your ADRs have a CC hold/cancellation fee INSIST that someone on the Dine line correct it for you.

Book for 2 tables of 5. Then if they don't come, you can cancel one. If they do come, you will be all set although depending on the restaurant they may not be able to seat you at one table (which could happen even with a reservation for 10).

I believe you should call on the phone to make those 2 reservations, or if you are going to do it online, use 2 different phone #s and/or names to reserve.

Someone who has done this can probably advise better on the mechanics.
