Can I reassign extra Magicbands?

We are getting Magicbands for our next trip but our 2 kids under 3 won't need theirs. Can I link them to my in-laws tickets instead? They will be staying off site. I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything doing a quick search.

I'm reasonably sure you can't transfer a band once it is linked---and bands that come as part of a resort stay are linked automatically.

If you list your two kids on your resort reservation as 10 years old and link your parents' tickets to them, then your parents can use the kids' MagicBands.

It will save you the price of two MagicBands. When they enter the Parks there won't be a problem because the ticket entitlements are adult-priced entitlements. And, MBs can be swapped at FP entrances so that won't be a problem either.

Your kids won't need them, but are you sure they won't want them? The reason they send Magic Bands for kids under three is so that they won't feel left out.

The 2 year old has one from another trip and the 6 month old wont know any better! I did not list them as 10 or older on the reservation and I just got an email that the bands have shipped. So, is it too late to do anything to be able to use them?

The ony thing they will be good for is Same Day FP at the kiosk. Just swipe them at the kiosk and the FP selections will appear.

Cool! I bet I could do this with both of DD2's bands and the baby's band since they've never had tickets linked. Or maybe DD2s bands are clones, not sure, but I'll give it a try at least.

They all should work as each MB has its own ID number. A set of 3 FPs for each MB is very cool!

Well between that and Rider swap, we should be able to breeze through the parks, oh except for the fact that we'll have a baby and 2yo in tow!:rotfl2:

Side note, I'm getting a little frustrated with the in-laws. They still haven't bought their tickets (we leave in 3 weeks) so I can't reserve their FP+ and try and get them synched with ours. I don't even know for sure if they will join us at the parks each day. I love planning so I've got everything mapped out in touring plans, all our FP+ carefully selected, ready to go. I'm so nervous that they are going to put a wrench in the whole thing by waiting until the last minute to get their tickets.

Wouldn't this cost them more money? I thought there was a per person fee added to the resort reservation for each extra adult. Not to mention, if they have the dining plan.

When the "adult" is 18 or older, then the extra per person fee applies. A child under 17 does not incur that fee.

Haha interesting. But if they had the dining plan they would count as an adult. Interesting how the definition of "adult" varies with Disney!

How do you book fastpass+ if there are no tickets linked to the person assigned to the magic band? Children under 3 don't require fast passes. Would you be able to book FPP if they are not required?
