Can I Really Keep My Mouth Shut For The Next 6 Months? Update 6/4 Link to TR

That is so funny, at our house it is a boy and his name is George (I have 3 boys and 1 girl) but I think that my oldest might be catching on. There is only so many times that you can say that I bought that toy for George only for him or his brother to open it up later.:lmao: But than I tried to tell him about Santa Clause this last year (he's gonna be 9) and he still went on believe him.:rotfl2:Maybe he just wants to make sure that he gets those Santa presents.:thumbsup2

My DS15 was 11 when he "found out" about Santa and he was actually really upset about it. I'm sure he heard kids talk at school but his best friend really believed so that helped keep up the belief. And once you stop believing you stop getting presents, so technically he better still believe, lol.

I was thinking of ways you could reveal other than just decorating the tree...how about playing Disney Scene-It (maybe make your own game, using pictures you had taken from trips...and ask your kids where this was, their memories, etc) and having Disney shaped dinner items...Mickey Ear Pizza, decorate Mickey cookies (or make rice krispy treats...I saw a mickey shaped cookie cutter at Walgreens in the Easter section the other day).

I have an easy recipe for pizza pretzels that the kids can make and then you can shape it into a Mickey Head...that would get them involved!

I've been thinking food too! For reveal night I was originally going to do a whole elaborate deal but since I will have so much to do that day I've downsized my plans. I like the Mickey head pizza idea, my DH is a GM of California Pizza Kitchen and I bet he could get his guys to make us a few special pizzas. I actually bought that Mickey cookie cutter the other day at Walgreens! I was going to make some cookies for the trip down but I really like the Rice Krispy treat idea, put it on a stick and dip it in chocolate and sprinkles and it's just like the parks!

We don't have Disney Scene It but we do have a trivia game that has easy questions for little kids, I was thinking of bringing those cards with us to do in the car. This is going to sound totally corny but we do this game called "Who am I". We all take turns giving clues to a Disney character and everyone tries to guess who they are. Example... I am made of wood, my nose grows when I lie, I want to be a real boy, Who am I? I thought maybe I could make up some cards and do a few regular characters and then have something written that says something that implies the kids like we live in Maryland, one of us loves video games, one of us loves baseball, one of us loves books, one of us love dolls and all of us are going to WDW tomorrow, Who are we? I have to work on that one, in my head it sounded good but as I just wrote it out I'm not so sure:rotfl:

Keep the suggestions coming, I could use all I can get!

Last night we did a Tangled movie night. The kids had been looking forward to this one all week. We got the movie on Tuesday and I made them wait until last night to watch, although they had seen it in the theaters waiting to watch it for 5 days was like torture to them, lol. We started the day off early with making some paper lanterns for decorations, these came out really cute, the pictures don't do them justice. Usually because my kids go to bed pretty early we watch the movie first then have dinner but because we had a special guest this evening we switched it up. So while I was prepping dinner the kids colored Flynn Wanted posters, Snuggly Duckling coasters and a 3D Pascal. Finally the guest of honor arrived, Granny was here! For starters brie cheese and bread (like the baquette and cheese Flynn and Rapunzel have). We then moved onto Rapunzel's favorite hazelnut soup. I got the recipe from here http://family.go.com/disney/pkg-disney-recipes/recipe-953126-rapunzels-squash-and-hazelnut-soup-t/ Let me just say that it was a huge disappointment, I had such high hopes and it took quite some time for me to prepare and for me and my DH it fell flat. And when I say it fell flat I mean it was gross, maybe I did something wrong but it was not even edible to me. My kind MIL actually said she liked it and ate some and I felt really bad for her, lol. Done with that diaster we wandered over to the Snuggly Duckling and sat down for the main course, Pascal's picatta (chicken picatta), Rapunzel's angel Hair pasta, Flynn's chicken fingers (for my picky eaters) and orange biscuit braids. The meal was delicious and for dessert we had berry jello with orange sliced boats and Pascal inspired cupcakes. After dinner all sat down and enjoyed the movie. It was a fun night, happy that we got to include my MIL in another movie night, next up is Lady and the Tramp!

BTW, as I type this Sam has pointed out that we didn't play a game last night, he is suggesting that they now play tag with the little frying pans I got as decoration, lol. Oh sure guys go hit each other with frying pans:rotfl:

Still totally loving your theme nights! Your dinner looked very delicious. :lmao:

Loved the pics and glad that your MiL was able to join you!!

P.S. I read the soup recipe, and ... it just didn't sound appetizing at all.

Your theme nights are amazing!! I need to get motivated to start doing these!! So fun!

DD and I were looking at Tangled yesterday and she said we needed to figure out a menu and do a Tangled night. :worship: You always give me such great ideas...stealing the cupcake idea and paper lanterns...and of course I think we will have to do some type of pasta dish and braided garlic bread! I love the cheese and french bread too! Think I will pass on the soup! :rotfl:

Next up for us is Mary Poppins...going to take advantage of Lent and make homemade fish and chips...even bought me some guiness just to make the beer batter! How English is that!

You could do a disney theme parks theme night and tell them that way if you have netflix they have the behind the scenes videos available to stream i believe they also have some of the sing a long songs available and as the activity have them do a scavenger hunt and have the last clue lead them to the couch and put on the vacation video.. get a piece of poster board to cover the tv have the video already started but on mute have the poster board say something about making a wish about where they would love to be have them close there eyes take the poster board off and press play and unmute the tv

Thanks, my kids were thrilled to have my MIL here as well, Emily is already saying she wants to invite her to our next night. Unfortunately my MIL lives about 2 hours away and has a very busy social life so we don't get to see her as often as they would like. The dinner did turn out to be good except thee soup, I've made butternut squash soup before and it was very good but this recipe called for parsnips and I think that's what may have did it in for the soup!

Thanks for reading and I'm glad you like the theme nights, they really have kept me from obsessing over our trip like I usually do!

Steal any ideas you need, I've gotten most of mine off these boards! And yes do pass on the soup!:rotfl: I have never thought of doing Mary Poppins, I'm going to have to put that on our list since my kids love MP. I've made a list of movie nights for us to continue after our trip, we won't be doing them as often, maybe once a month, at that rate it'll hold us off until our next trip.

I admit, I took those frames off of the wall and put the Tangled ones in just for the night, lol. They usually have a Lion King and Sorcerer Mickey pictures in them. I still have to get Emily some frames so I can put the Tangled ones in her room.

Thanks so much, yes the soup was truly a disaster. I like to consider myself a pretty adventurous cooker and like to try new things but this one will not get a repeat:rotfl:

Thanks for joining in! I admit I would probably do theme nights is I had no children too! When I was a freshman in college my roommate was a Disney freak too and our room became known as the Disney room. We would host movie night for our friends, I remember watching Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin for the first time in the dorms!

Love the ideas for reaveal. We are going to tell them on the night before we leave. I think I've gotten the menu down, simple Mickey head pizzas that my DH can get us and some other Disney related food. It's going to be a stressful night with my MIL and DN coming in and us trying to get everything packed and ready without letting the kids in on the secret!

I have never thought of doing Mary Poppins, I'm going to have to put that on our list since my kids love MP.

Set a plate for me, as I'm inviting myself over for your Mary Poppins nights! MP was my favorite Disney movie ever. So make room for me! :lmao:

(Okay, in all seriousness, I can't wait to hear about MP night!)

trying to get everything packed and ready without letting the kids in on the secret!

Can you start to pack now? Slowly start taking pairs of socks and under things and what ever else leaving it in a laundry basket in your room making it look like you just haven't put all the laundry away...? and maybe since your driving instead of using suitcases use laundry baskets or plastic bins... do you have a garage? maybe put that stuff into the garage ? or if you go the plastic bin route (as long as they are not see thru) you can pretend that its stuff to go to grammys house and you need to put it in her car but really put it in your car?

I love Mary Poppins... Have fun with that!

I'm going to have to think hard about a menu for Mary Poppins, at least for myself. Most of my family will eat fish and chips but Sam and me don't. Maybe I should just do tea party type food or should I do an English dish? I did find my penguin cupcakes already!

Well my creative juices stopped flowing around the teenage years ... so I'm no help in brain storming! But I'd love to see what you come up with!

My DD's girl scout troop is hosting a tea party for the moms for Mother's Day, so I may sneak a watch of MP in with her ahead of time. :lmao:
