We're heading to Disney in Oct. and we just purchased our tickets. Can we practice booking fastpasses or is that frowned upon? Or would it somehow invalidate our actual times? Our 60 day window starts in mid August, so the practicing would be for outside our reservation. Hope that makes sense!:confused3

Because our tickets were not part of a pkg (linked separately), I've simply put in earlier dates and have practiced. No difficulty in doing so, but I don't know if it works if you have a pkg.

You should be able to practice for any day in the next 30 days. Just pick some day in the middle. Make your selections and see how to change attractions or times in both the website and the app. Just make sure to cancel them when you are done.

I picked the 30 days out to practice.

7DMT had 2 slots available (time slots) for FP at the 30 day mark.

I picked the 3 worst time options to work with so I could make changes much easier. It took me 3 minutes to book my 3FPs...it's so easy :goodvibes

Given 2 slots available at the 30 day mark (and it's now 10pm eastern- so more like 29 days 22 hours)....I can safely presume that all times will be available on our non MNSSHP--MK day at 67 days out.

I have been wondering about this too. I just picked a random date on the next few weeks and it let me book Fastpasses. I made sure to cancel but that wouldn't really lock up spots when our trip is 5 months away would it?

No, but it's rude to keep FP+ selections you don't intend to use that other people might.

Yes it will lock up spots. Off site guests can book 30 days out so for all the system knows, you could have bought tickets elsewhere. You don't want to use up someone else's chance to snag a fast pass!

We just watched this video before and it was very helpful. We knew exactly what to do when the time came.

I watched a video as well. But I am confused about one thing.

We are not all planning to use our FP+ for the same ride.

For instance, DH and my son will be doing FP+ for ToT in HS, while me, MIL, and DD want to do Toy Story Mania on the same day.

I know they are tiered, is this something I will be allowed to do?

You all do not have to do the same rides but you have to have 1 from the first group and 2 from the second. See below. You all can do Toy Story Mania - since that is in the first group. Then for the second group you, your MIL and your DD can pick one of the other rides in group 2 while your DH and DS do TOT. I hope that helps.

Select One:
◾Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
◾Fantasmic
◾Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
◾Toy Story Midway Mania

Select Two:
◾American Idol Experience
◾Disney Junior – Live on Stage
◾Great Movie Ride
◾Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
◾Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
◾Muppet Vision 3D
◾Star Tours
◾Tower of Terror
◾Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Our tickets were purchased separately, so going to try this tomorrow. Will definitely cancel when done! Thanks for all the help/suggestions!

I must be doing something wrong. I have tried several times over several days to test booking some FPs. My 60 day window opens in a couple of weeks. Even trying for today or tomorrow, it says I do not have a valid window.

We are booked with FD so our tickets are linked to a package, but as others have suggested, shouldn't I be able to book FPs for a week from today?

I just want to do it once or twice and then immediately cancel. That way I have a better idea what I am doing once my 60 day window opens.

This does help me! Thank you for clarifying. I must have misunderstood the tier system. I thought ToT was a first tier attraction.

This stuff is stressing me out :badpc: . Now I will redo my "hopeful" FP selections.

Thanks again :).

I bought tickets as part of a package and it all shows up on my MDE account. When I just went in to see if I could do a practice FP+, it says we don't have tickets linked. Yet, they show up on my reservations page assigned to each member of our party. Anyone else? Is there something else I have to do to link them? Or, is it because they are tied to certain dates because of the package?? Getting nervous b/c out 60 window is coming up. Thanks!

If the only tickets in your MDE account are linked to your resort reservation, you should not be able to use them to practice--the system knows that those tickets can't be used prior to the reservation, so it won't allow you to link a FP reservation to them that is before you will be checking in.

As the system is far from perfect, I'm sure that somewhere along the way, someone has been able to do this, but in general, those able to practice have purchased their tickets separately and aren't booked on a package, but a room only (or are staying offsite but have already entered their ticket info). Either of these ways will allow them to book practice FPs 30 days out, as MDE has no way of knowing if they plan on using those tickets tomorrow and purchasing more tickets (or no tickets at all) when they are staying at a Disney resort.

Thanks! I was hoping that's all it was! Guess I'll watch some online tutorials and hope for the best. :thumbsup2

I know - we did more research for our upcoming than any other before. Glad I could help.

We were the same way. We were nervous until day 60. After watching the Youtube videos - we had no problem at day 60. When we did it at midnight - it didn't work and we thought something was wrong and it ended up that their system was down. Once it went up we had no problem.
