Can I pay $$ to upgrade to a better room if I booked on pts only?

We booked at the Yacht Club and category of room I wanted to book orig. was not avail using my DVC pts. However, I see that category of room is showing availability to book through Disney as cash pay. Can I cash pay to upgrade?????

In the past, if the room type you wanted was available at check-in, the resort would allow an upgrade by paying the cash difference. Since most all room types are now available on points, I don't know if that policy has changed (I'll assume it's still allowed by the resort).

I doubt you can make such arrangements in advance, but would suggest calling MS to upgrade the room using points- if it's still available.

What would be the cash price difference between standard and preferred view at the Boardwalk...any one know the answer?

I have standard view booked but I am short one night. MS cancelled my reservation when I was booking and now I have nowhere to stay the night of the marathon. I had/have two rooms booked Jan 8-15. I was cancelling rooms that had come through on the waitlist day by day and then all of a sudden I no longer have the reservation for Jan 11. They tried to tell me I never had that night but I had booked it for the full week and the CM was cancelling it day by day as I was getting rooms on the waitlist. MS has really burned me in the reservations department lately.

They also told me I had the full week I wanted in the standard view room I wanted and used my 85 points to do it. Then about half an hour later they phoned back and said they made a mistake and took the reservation away.

I'm not aware of any reports of paying cash for an upgrade at a DVC resort on points. The OP was asking about upgrading at a non-DVC resort.

Good luck with your January reservation at BWV. I'd keep calling to check for availability. There is still time to get the room you want on points.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been really lucky so far getting the rooms I needed on the waitlist but I am still short a couple of nights. This week will be 30 days out so I am crossing my fingers!
