We are going to WDW 11/25 - 12/3 and have FD with upgrade to DDP. We have a son who is 9 and can is like a beanpole with a hollow leg and because of this we are planning quite a few buffets and family style TS. When we do QS though can we just buy him an adult meal and pay OOP so that we can make sure he gets plenty to eat.

I'm not sure what the Deluxe Dining Plan includes but Disney would probably love if you bought extra meals out of pocket- more profits for them.

For quick service you can order him adult meals. When we were there in November I was talking with a cast member and they said the quick service meals are pooled and not divided into child and adult. He told me to just get adult if I wanted. I did a couple times. I figured if they told us we could then Disney doesn't have a problem with it. We asked a couple CMs and they all stated we could.

is it the standard dining plan (1QS and 1 TS) or Deluxe (3 table service) for standard DP, at QS you can order him adult portions. Table service he will be limited to the kids menu.

For deluxe dining plan, I believe he can order adult portions at table service restaurants.

But of course, you can always buy extra food/meals out of pocket.

CS credits aren't differentiated as adult/child, so you can buy him an adult CS meal either with credits or OOP.

Sorry standard. The TS we're not as worried about bc we'll probably get an app to share and everyone gets a dessert plus we'll do a lot of buffets but QS worries me.

I do not believe the TS comes with dessert or an appetizer any longer- just a drink and meal

You would be paying out of pocket for both of those with a TS credit

Table Service meals still come with dessert, Quick Service does not. No appetizers on any meal for DDP.

Sorry for the confusion I know apps don't come with meals but we will end up buying 1-2 oop at TS for the table.

QS credits are pooled together, so DS9's QS credits can be used for adult QS meals. No need to pay OOP for those meals. When you get your receipt, it will show how many credits were used, and how many are remaining. It will include all QS credits for the entire party, regardless of age, in one lump sum.

With the DDP, for TS credits, it will list adult and child credits separately on the receipts.

On the regular DDP there is no differentiation between adult and child credits QS credits so you can use your son's QS credits for adult meals. The TS credits, however, will be listed separately as Adult and Child credits so at TS, buffet and AYCTE meals your son's credits will be deducted for his meals.

Ty. I didnt care at Ts since we're mainly doing buffets but th for letting me know about QS. That helps with the planning a lot. Thanks everyone for such quick responses ARE day is quickly approaching so I'm thankful to at least have one less question.
