Can I park at Beach Club for convenience to Epcot World Showcase entrance???

Dave - I really don't know the exact answer to your question, but every other DVC "perk" I've seen discussed on these boards is allowed only when staying at a DVC resort on points, so I suspect the answer to your question is no.

Having said that, it never hurts to ask when you are there!!!!

I know somebody who stays off-site, is not a DVC member, and brags about how easy it is to get valet parking to go to the parks. Is it right - no, does it happen - yes.

My understanding is NO, you can not park at a DVC resort to access the parks, so NO, you can not use DVC valet to park your car to access the parks.

Hi - I'm the original poster of this thread. First of all, I'd like to thank everybody for all their ideas, suggestions and points of view - I had no idea this would be such a touchy subject with such varied opinions!

I'm still a bit confused due to the wide range of responses so I'd like to rephrase my question this way: As a DVC member, do I have a right to use my free valet parking at Beach Club Villas or Broadwalk Villas on a day when I will not be staying at a Disney resort????

Based on your reponses to this question, I will make my decision on what appears to have become a "moral" issue for some of my fellow Disney-loving associates! :rotfl:

Rest assured I definitely intend to "do the right thing" based on your responses. Thanks so much for all your interesting opinions and suggestions - that's why I enjoy this forum so much.

Best wishes,
Dave

Putting me on the spot so... No. Thanks for doing the right thing though. Hope this thread gets a lot of viewers. :thumbsup2

Straight from dvcmember.com under Boardwalk Resort:

"Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Enjoy complimentary valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked."

This one's from Beach Club:
"Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Enjoy complimentary valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked."

Finally from Wilderness Lodge:
"Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Enjoy complimentary valet parking at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked."

All 3 say "or" so your blue membership card should be all you need to valet park your car.

Dave...the straight answer to this question is yes, you can use free valet parking at at DVC resort any time, whether you are staying on-site or not. Since your question doesn't mention accessing the parks via the valet parking, I won't bring that into it.

Granny - yes it does, he is attending a 6 hour wine tasting class at Alfredo's, now maybe I am wrong, but isn't that the Italian restaurant in Epcot?? If it isn't, then I am really confused and can anyone tell me what that restaurants name is? :confused3

What Granny was responding to was the official wording on the member website. It says "OR" membership card, but says nothing about wether or not you are accessing the parks from the valet parking.

The way I am reading it as a DVC Member you can valet park at BCV, BWV, or VWL as long as you show your DVC card. It doesn't matter if you are going to a park, to eat, or are staying there. You just flash your card, tip and be on your merry way to wherever it is you are going. Have fun.

ALTHOUGH.....the guard may ask why you are there and give you a 3 hr pass. Don't you have to go through the guard first?

Yes, you have to go through the guard gate. To be honest, I have never received a 3 hour pass at YC, BC or BW. I have received them at the Poly & Contemporary. One time I was in Orlando for a business trip and took a coworker to the ESPN Club. I just flashed the guard my DVC card and said valet parking and he let me right in.

we park at boardwalk all the time, even when we are not staying there. We like to walk/shop/dine along the boardwalk and we also then use the int gateway to enter epcot. We show our DVC member card and have never been questioned. Didn't even think this might be a problem, am i wrong?

Yes you can valet park for free at any DVC resort using your Membership Card. Call and ask if you can valet park to access parks and you will be told no.

The signs posted that say the resort does not provide parking for park access do not say that valet parking is exempt.

If you are parking in the self parking lot, I think it is a problem. We have often not been able to find a parking place in the late afternoons/early evenings when we stay at the BWV. That's because so many people (other resort guests as well as off site guests) are parking there and going to EPCOT. I know this is the case, because we can sit on our balcony and watch the self parking lot empty after IllumiNations.

I've not ever seen the valet lot full when we have visited, although that may happen during Fodd & Wine or between Christmas and New Year's. I don't personally have a problem with DVC members who use the valet service. If/When that gets full, I'm sure the CMs at the entrance kiosk will take the proper steps. Unfortunately, they can't tell if guests using the self parking lot are going to the Boardwalk or really intend to go to EPCOT/IllumiNations.

If it were up to me, I would reserve most of the BW self parking lot for those who are actually staying at the BW resort.

Best wishes -

I hope you are right.... I want our DVC neighbors, and myself, to be welcomed at any DVC resort based on a DVC membership. I don't know though... it might be subject to ones that are staying at the resort. :confused3

With an AP, you can park for free at Epcot. Why bother parking at a resort if you are not using any of the resort services - dining, shopping, lodging? Like Sammie said, the signs at the deluxe resorts say that they cannot provide parking for the theme parks. Whether you valet or self park.

Thanks for the heads up. i just always assumed that if we were going to the BW it was where we were supposed to park (u know what assuming gets ya!) :lmao: My wife is on crutches and the walk from there to the BW is the shortest vs. the walk in from EPCOT's main entrance, so we just always went that way. i'll have to rethink my strategy now. :sunny:

It's great that we have so many moral people who ALWAYS do the right thing. They always obey every sign posted and never break any rules. If everyone could be more like them the world (including Disney World) would be a better place. I'm sure they always cancel all dining reservations and never let any go unused. They never smoke outside the designated smoking areas. They never use flash photography when asked not too. And most important they ALWAYS keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle until it has come to a complete stop.

Guess what? I press the little button on the back of the fast pass machine and sometimes (if they have it unlocked) I get bonus fast passes.

Maybe if more people followed the rules, there would be fewer problems. What's your excuse???? :sad2:
