This is what many of us do....We book at our home resort at 11 months then call at 7 months to see if anything else is available...It is well within your right to do so...Go for it

I agree with the pp. We book at our home resort at 11 months to gaurantee we have a reservation. This is especially true when we go during February or April break. Then we call back at 7 months if we want to try and stay somewhere different.

No problem. For the trip I just came back from, I cancelled and rebooked it 4 times! I first had it second week of May at BWV, made at 11 months. My brother was supposed to get married that weekend (it later fell through) so I moved it to the last week of April. Then at 7 months I changed it to AKV Jambo. Then I found out I had a work project for that time and could not take off, plus a friend had a June birthday celebration, so I moved it to the third week of June at AKV Kidani.

Just don't cancel the first one until you are sure you have the second. Plus, if you use fewer points for the second and you too late to bank points, you may have left over points that you won't be able to use before they expire. We worried about that this year for our May/June reservation where we thought me might want to stay at AKV and were on the waitlist for a few months until we cancelled. It would have used fewer points and we would have been past our banking deadline.
