Can I join Avis preferred after I have already booked online?

I went to the Avis page to join the preferred club (or whatever it is called) and it appears you are actually booking at the time you are submitting the info. Does anyone know if that is the case? I see there is already an AWD code for joining in the space provided, but I think I may have a code that is better. Is the code for joining the best that they give? Just thought I would go ahead and book with my code and then join. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Yes. You can join any of the car rental "clubs" after the fact, and it is five minutes well spent. It may save you 45 minutes at your destination. After you join, call their reservations people and ask them to add your number to your existing reservation.
