Can I jog around World Showcase?

I'm wondering if I can jog around World Showcase, perhaps between 9 and 11 in the morning? I seem to remember there being some mall walker type ladies in WS when I did the Around the World on a Segway tour maybe 6 years ago.

Afraid not. They use those precious hours to clean, wash, and make the area show ready. It's also common to see a truck out on the grounds. The only Guests that venture back there are apart of the Segway tours.

Most of the WS is not even accessible before 11am when it officially opens for the day.Even then I've never heard of people jogging around a theme park except on marathon dates. However just outside the International Gateway entrance to Epcot you have the Boardwalk and Y&B club resorts that have some very nice wide paths and I do see people jogging there all the time.

Sure you can! Just sign up for one of the 5ks that goes through Epcot. :) The Family Fun Run in January is sold out, but you can still get into the Royal Family 5k on Feb 23rd. Otherwise, nope.

As the previous poster mentioned. You can jog around the epcot resort area. YC, BC, BWV swan. There is a nice lake you could jog around, which those resorts are around.

Are the 5K races all super family oriented? I suppose what I'm asking is would I feel awkward doing a 5K with either just myself or another young adult?

Yep, just jog around the Boardwalk. Gorgeous area and very quiet in the mornings. If you MUST jog around Showcase, do it the second the rope drops since people aren't usually flocking back there right at 11. You might get a few strange looks but, eh, you'll never see these people again, right?

Oh no not at all; most of the people I know that do it are just single young adults.

I know the path around WS is 1.2 or 1.4 miles or something like that... How long is the path around the BW/Y&B lake?

I just mapped it and the path around the lake is .85 miles. You could probably lengthen it if you ran the path to the Studios as well. If you ran to the Studios and then around the lake it'd be about 1.5 miles.

I think if they see you using the park as a jogging track they might ask you to stop, as I think they do not want to encourage people running through the park. but you could probably do fast paced walking if there isn't a crowd.

You should swim across the lagoon instead...

And, as I understand it, it must be very effective.
If a guest does it only once, they never do it again.

EVER!

I do that at all the parks all day long...... I'm still fat.

Not at all! I highly recommend them! There is nothing like a runDisney event! I've done 2 of the 5ks, and they are nothing short of magical. I did them with a friend, so you would be fine. People dress up, get pictures with characters along the way, etc.

I have stayed at the Swan a lot and if you run the loop all the way around the lake and over to HS and down to International Gateway, then back, it is around 3 miles. I love the loop, great early morning run!

Yeah, me (24) and my fiancé (also 24) just did one this past Saturday at animal kingdom and it was awesome! People wear costumes and all and it's just a lot of fun. Highly recommend it.

Akerhaus has character breakfasts before the EP opening but I've always been hightailing the other way for Soarin FPs and never tried to keep going around WS.

Disney has chipped away at what's "open" in world Showcase in the mornings for several years. Technically it's not open until the whole area opens, but the path to Akershus from the main gate (thus Norway and Mexico's exterior areas) and the path to Future World from International Gateway are open (thus UK and Canada's exterior areas).

The shops and kiosks essentially open whenever the CMs show up at those area. But yes, running is frowned upon.

China to France is "off limits" entirely aside from Segway and other tour groups (Backstage Magic is at American Adventure early morning - about the same time as Creative Costuming who is generally doing their last minute checks on the wigs/costumes there.)

Disney has long said that it gives them extra time to prep the area, but really only China to France can have equipment out, so it's a little bit of a help but not nearly as much as it used to be. They could easily fudge things around to just open the area - if they install a new ride back there they'll do just that.

And as for running around Epcot resorts - those resorts have a running map with suggested paths and distances. Just ask the front desk. Same for Wilderness Lodge area.
