in a fish? I had DH buy fish for DD's aquarium yesterday since the others she had all got sick from ick and didn't make it longer than three weeks.

They came home with three mollies.

This morning I feed the fish and notice soething floating in the tank. There are about 7 babies swimming around the tank!

What am I going to do with all of these fish?

This may sound gross but the parents will probably eat half of them. I know..

too early in the morning for cannibalism ! ugh

It's true. I know it's icky but the parents may eat them. They don't know any better.

Check with your local pet store about what they suggest you do.

If you want the babies to live, either put them in a separate tank or get a tank separater made of fine screen at the pet store and get them away from the parents.

Best wishes!

Only 7? Dang, you got off easy. I had one that had 23 babies once!

I used a tank separator so they didn't get eaten. I took it off after a while, thinking they were big enough. I was wrong. Only a few survived. :(

Sure. Stick 'em in an envelope and mail 'em to me. But seriously, definitely put them in a separate tank if you want them to live. The other fish will think they're food.

sounds like a Disney movie, a combo of Nemo and 101 dalmations!
::yes::

Congratulations!!!

Seriously - separate them in some kind of way, or their numbers will diminish rapidly, and you'll be explaining the "circle of life" to DD!!!

Good Luck!!! And I'll bet the pet store will take them off of your hands!
