Can I have Your Opinions On This Car Please

Sue, get it you wont regret it!! I am on my second Mini. I used to have a little red cooper then when I got pregnant with DS everyone told me to get a big car so I bought the Cooper S cabrio!!! It's a wee cracker;) I have never had a problem with any of my mini's. Are you goint to get the Chilli pack? I would recommend it the sports suspension is great. The roof is automatic too and you can even put it down using the key from a few metres away!

I have taken out a few cars for test drives over the past few months including the Audi TT and BMW 325 coupe and they are nowhere near as much fun!;)

Hi Sue, I have a sliver Cooper S, best car I've ever had, and Ian and I have got through quite a few. I am the worlds worst at parking but even I can manage in my mini. The boot space doesnt cause us a problem as it is just thw two of us, like Em I just pop the back seat down if I need to. Enjoy your testdrive honey ... I am sure Ian will be along later to give you his opinion.

They do funky mini cushions aswell! I hinted big time aat xmas, but never got one!

Sorry Sue but it is a BMW Cooper to me, no way a Mini.

Certainly not the 1400 (bored out) GT we cruised about in when i was in my late teens, how we stayed alive i dont know:confused3 . I think they are over priced, you must be able to find a better price within the Japanese cars and their 2 seaters which are infinitely more reliable than German trash.

Well said Cochise

I detest anything to do with those German scumbbags, who cost a lot of my friends their jobs and my company a lot of money.
Will not have any of their cars on the company car scheme.

Sue, I love it.

DD has a black Mini one and I love driving that, now if only she had the convertible:D

Hi sue got to agree with juls, best car ive ever owned. The only downside too awell built german car is,it tends too be heavy on tyres,9000 miles for the first pair on the front, and at £280 a pair they ant cheap.I"am quite surprised jules hasn"t asked if she can come out for a drive,as she loved the convertable we had in florida. As for garages etc, we"ve had ours 3 years other than the tyres its only had the one service, so go for it,you never know topgear my be calling. As emily said any questions just ask, hope you enjoy the test drive

The car was designed by British engineers in Gaydon Warwickshire, built in a British plant in Oxford and sold to a German company, who then took all the experiance that British Engineers had in producing front wheel drive cars, 4X4 off roaders and the new Rover small car to produce as their 1 series. they then flogged off the husk of the company after stripping it. That is the only "German" bit of the MINI.

German indeed!

Sorry that last post was under juls login ,obi do i take it you dont like BMW,the german company who obvisouly knew what they were doing when they took over the company.

Yes, they knew exactly what they were doing when they took over the company. Asset stripping.
Yes, I have nothing but contempt at the way they treated British workers and suppliers.
People can buy what they want, that is their perogative.
I just hope that they do not come to the time in life when their job is exported.

Personally I don't like the MINI as its ugly, small and overpriced for what it is.

Thanks everyone who gave me their opinions on the actual car,:thumbsup2 thats what I was after, not the company itself as I know very little about them. It appears I have opened a can of worms here, all be it unintentionally.:confused3

Obi-I dont think its at all ugly, in fact quite a chic looking thing, small, yes but thats what Im after as I said, overpriced, no idea, but its holding its value well even if it is, but I asked for your opinions good or bad and I appriciate that, thank you.:goodvibes

Thanks everyone, I will let you all know after the test drive what I feel, and if Im happy then thats what I will go for.:goodvibes

enjoy your test drive Sue, if you need company you know where I am, I am sorry that your thread seems to have opened a can of worms too, as Ian said if you have any more questions that we can help with feel free to PM us ...

Thanks Jules, I should have it for 5 days in about 2 weeks time, so if you and Ian are around and about and want to meet up with me for a coffee, we can all have a look together and a little run in it:thumbsup2

Good luck, Sue! :thumbsup2 Hope the car's as good to drive as it looks - very funky. :hippie: I drive a convertible (not a mini) and love it - never want to drive anything else now...

so funny, I too have the fluffy dice and arial topper, I will try and post a piccie

Sue, forgot to say, they do hold their value well, I only lost a third of the price on my previous Cooper when I traded it in after 3 years.

Minis can be expensive but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and I think it's worth every penny.
