I have followed this forum for years and have found it extremely helpful. My question is can I have two reservations at once? Long story short, I have a reservation for a two bedroom villa using our points at our home resort at VWL Aug 21-31. My famiy consists of me, my DH, DD 17, DS 14, DS 12. I have invited my DS and her son to come along for a portion of our stay, but it ends up she is staying the entire time. Our original intent was to buy the dining plan while staying at VWL. After a little investigation, I have found out that it is $300 less expensive to book a room at POR with free dining for my family of 5 with three teenagers than to pay for for dining plan at VWL. Can I have a room at POR to take advantage of free dining with the intent of using the amenities at our favorite resort VWL? Right now we are registered guests at both places. Today is my deadline to pay for the remainder of our POR reservation. I don't want to do something that will get us in trouble. I could see us utilizing both places for a little sanity break from my DS and DN :rotfl:

I think you can do that, no one does any bed checks (don't forget to actually check in to VWL, though), but that seems like a big waste of points to me - just to use the amenities at VWL - meaning the pool and a little alone time? POFQ has a pretty neat pool itself and I'm sure you could find somewhere to escape without having a 2 BR at VWL! Or maybe at least see if you could change your VWL reservation to a studio to save those points.

Your Sis and Niece will need to be added on your 2 bedroom reservation. Your immediate family can be listed on both reservations, but your Sis and Niece won't be eligible for free dining, as they'd also need to be on the POR reservation, and that would put you over room capacity at POR.

They also would be unable to purchase the DDP at the DVC resort, as you'd ALL need to be on that plan there.

This is assuming your Sis and niece are sharing your 2 bedroom, and not staying in their own cash room or DVC studio.

Thanks for clarification, Chuck -- as I said, I was getting confused about who was staying where!

Thanks for the replies. For clarification, my immediate family is listed on both reservations. My sister and her son are listed as guests only on our VWL reservation. (There are the five of us on the POR reservation, and seven of us on the VWL reservation.) So you all think it won't be a problem? We are using the DDP from the POR reservation for just my immediate family. My sister is an extremely strict vegan and the DDP would be a total waste of money for her. I don't view my reservation at POR as a waste because as I stated earlier it actually comes out at $300 less for our family to do it that way. Does this sound ok? :confused3

I have read that several members do this and it makes sense during Free Dining as the cost of the room w/free dining is less than the cost of adding the DDP to the points reservation.

Good luck and have a great time!

We are actually doing the same thing only for Aug 29 to Sept 5 and using All Star Sports and BCV. We are staying at the BCV and the dining plan would have been $916 for the four of us. Through the All Stars with free dining, it is $40 more, but we are getting a one-day ticket each (worth about $300). Originally DH was going to join us, but cannot, and my mom is going to come along. She decided she'd rather stay at All Stars to have more space (we have a studio at BCV).

My only concern was that if it didn't look like we were using the room at All Stars they might assume we had left and cancel our room keys/tickets/dining plan. I don't have this concern anymore since my mom will be staying there. But that would be my only concern about this situation--that and keeping the room keys straight!
