I could really use some prayers and PD, please!
Some brief back history: I worked for a particular company for 18 years and absolutely loved it! During the high of the dot.com era, the privately-owned company I worked for got sold to a publicly-traded company. Things looked really great.... until the stock market crashed and the company that now owned us went bankrupt. The former owner of the privately-held company was able to buy back a part of his original company, but not before my division was sold to someone else. A year ago, the new owners told us they were shutting my office down. I became unemployed on New Year's Eve.
I have been talking with a former boss at the original privately-held company about a position since last August. Various issues have caused delays, but it was finally posted within the company last week. My old boss had a few internal interviews and is getting back to me this week.
Due to the level that I was at previously, there are very few jobs in this town that would pay me as well (it's a town of 13,000!). This job would mean a 30 minute commute to another town versus the 2 minute commute I was used to having, and only 75% of my previous pay.... but of all the jobs I have looked at and interviewed for so far, this is the job I really, really would LOVE to have!
Can you spare some prayers and PD, please?

I just got an e-mail from my old boss who informed me that he had finished interviewing internal candidates but didn't find anyone more qualified than me! However, he now needs to discuss the status with his boss on Thursday.
but after so many other interviews that seemed promising I'm still afraid of getting my hopes up!
I was just in Chicago the weekend before last but it was a very rushed trip -- Arrived Sat evening just in time for a Medieval Times performance and then off the next morning to the Museum of Science and Industry before driving home (we're about 4 hours south of Chicago). It was a quick family trip with the in-laws, nieces & nephews. It's funny... I was looking for signs of DIS members everywhere! Unfortunately, the Gino's Meet occurs the same weekend as my niece's First Communion. However, if there is a DIS Meet during the summer, I'll be sure to try and be there!
