Hi ..does anyone know this??? Can I order 2 mobiles from walmart and have them delivered to my hotel for the day we check in??

We really need to find a way to contact each other as we are splitting up some in the parks. Our mobiles won't work in USA so i thought of buying 2 cheap pre paid ones over there. But as we arrive late at Sanford..we aren't going to want to go shopping at that time and once we are on disney property we won't be leaving for 7 days :teeth:
We are staying at the Contempory and I have heard of people "shipping" things forward. So will this be OK? Anyone tried this?

When we went last year as a party of 17 we bought some walkie talkies from walmart. They worked well if we split up in the parks.

We've also used walkie talkie's in the parks. Quite funny when you get someone else's frequency though!!

I thought of walkie talkies but think phones will be better as one day dh is going to kennedy and i want to be able to contact him so we can arrange where to meet and what time.
Phones can ge bought for $20 now..so very reasonable price. Just not sure if this delivery will work out.

Do walkie-talkies from the UK work ok? We used them in Disneyland Paris and they were fine.

Michelle

Isn't there something strange about UK frequencies being illegal in the US? :confused3

It's honestly something I know nothing about but I seem to remember reading something.

We take our O2 tri-band phones which work well :thumbsup2

there is another solution, shopping can be done by a third party, inc wegoshop.com, and they deliver to the door, you can get anything for a standard fee, and they will go to whichever supermarket you wqant, target walmart etc, or all of them!
we are having groceries delivered to our hotel

I went to the Walmart site to see if I could order something and it says that you must have a U.S. credit card to order items. I'm not sure if there's a way around this.

There's the Crossroads Shopping Centre which is within walking distance of Downtown Disney and I believe they have a variety of stores - perhaps a quick jog there on your 1st or 2nd day! :) Though, of course, they could be expensive, I don't know.

Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2 ...Think I'll look into the wegoshop.com..or perhaps the crossroads shops. :)

You can also buy prepaid mobiles at Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney, without going offsite.

Another option ....

You can buy a tri-band phone here in the UK from e-bay or virgin for about £20. (new is a little but more about £50). If possible get the phone unlocked. Then buy a sim card from the US via various websites. I can not think of one right now, but I am sure someone knows one. Thus when you arrive you are all set up and ready to go.

Or get a simcard from the UK and enable it for global roaming if you can not get an unlocked phone.

If you go with this option make sure the phone has triband.

Also if you have any friends with old unlocked phones they no longer need or us, you could borrow them, or give them a few quid towards it. I am sure someone you know has phones in draws just gathering dust.
