So I was thinking.. I don't get into MCO until 7 and MK is open to 10. I have an extra day on my package that I was not going to be able to use and thought why not go right from MCO to MK for the last hour to two hours its open. That's if its possible.

Do you know since they are sending my things to the hotel if there is a way I can get dropped off at MK from MCO instead of the hotel I am staying at?

Do you mean you are taking the Magical Express? If that is the case then the answer is no. ME buses do not go to the parks.

But couldnt they get dropped off at say Poly and just take the monorail?

How could they do that if no one on the bus is scheduled to go to the Poly???

Here is some info from one of the stickies at the top of the transprtation forum...

GUIDELINES REGARDING DME AND LUGGAGE ONLY
Okay...here's the deal. We get a ton of posts regarding this issue. If a guest calls Disney and asks if they can tag their bags but not ride the bus, Disney will tell them no, someone has to ride the bus. That is Disney's official stand if a guest calls and asks about it.
In all reality, if a guest tags their checked bags, but does not ride the DME bus to the resort, their bags will, in all probability, still get to their resort. Disney has a contract with MCO that states all DME tagged bags will be transported to WDW resorts.

Now....the only issue you may run into is this....
You tagged 3 bags. You get to your resort, using a towncar or rental car. You do not checkin at the DME welcome counter. You get to your resort, get checked in, and then head off to a park. You return to your room, many hours later, assuming your bags will be there, waiting, in your room. But, you find only 2 bags in your room! So, you call Bell Services and start the search. The airlines have a window in which you should be submitting a claim for missing/misdirected bags....this window may have passed by the time you realize you have missing bags. Of course, WDW/DME may have just sent your missing bag to the wrong resort.

So...long story short....Disney tells you that you have to ride the bus to get your luggage delivered. Disney will move all yellow, DME tagged bags, from MCO to WDW resorts...whether or not you are on a DME bus.

As long as you are aware of what 'could' happen, do what you wish. We have not seen reports of missing baggage here. It just doesn't happen very often...at least we aren't hearing of it happening.

There is no need for debate...this is how it works, plain and simple.
You could taxi to the park, but it is a pretty far drive form the airport. And if your park tickets are part of your package then you will have to go to guest relations for early ticket pickup. Also, you will have to have any carryon baggage with you. I'm not sure it would be worth it to spend an hour or so in the park and then have to check-in and risk something being wrong with your resrvation. So, while it is doable, it may be more trouble than it is worth.

Even if your flight arrives exactly at 7 pm, there is no way you would make it to MK with enough time to make a trip worth a visit if it closes at 10 pm.

I was thinking it would be to much to do with such little time but on the other hand was thinking even with such little time it would allow for a ride or two.

That said though it does look like I could do this with the Magical Express system.....

I will stick with the original plan.. =)

Thanks for your responses

Even if you could this is the part I would read/pay attention to. It lands exactly at 7 you won't get off until 7:15 then not over to the other side until 7:30/7:45 plus a 20-30 minute cab ride to the place. Meh not worth it for just 2 hours.

You'd have to go to the hotel to get your park pass anyway.

This is key. If you have a package and will not have your tickets in advance, you will need to check in at your resort to get your tickets. (You might be able to get your tix at guest services at the MK through the same process that can be used by guests to pick up package tickets before their resort stay begins, but I am not certain.)

DME will not (unless you are very, very lucky) transport you to a resort other than where you have your reservation.

If you do not take a DME bus, you are not supposed to use the DME luggage transfer service and would have to collect your bags. (Read the sticky on the Transportation board for an ad nauseum discussion on this topic.)

Your best possible scenario is to take a cab to the CR and hope that your bags make it to your resort, then hope that you can get your tickets at the MK guest services location outside the park. If your timing is great and you experience no delays, that would allow you to walk into the MK by about 8:30 p.m. at the very, very earliest.

On DME, no. They will not drop you anywhere but at the resort where you are registered. Your best option if you intend to do this is the taxi to the Contemporary. If you don't have park tickets until you check into the resort, I don't think it's going to work out. Even if you can get the tickets from guest services at the park, it will take time to do this. However, if you don't check in to your resort room they won't know where to send your luggage, so the luggage won't be waiting in your room.

By mistake I meant to put the word "NOT" after does....I just came back here and saw all the follow up responses..sorry about that and thank you for replying.

I'm buying the tickets through mousesavors and it has if you buy 6 you get an extra day for free to why I was thinking to squeeze in that extra time.

It really is NOT worth squeezing anything more in than going to the hotel and starting my day fresh that Sunday. Thank you for helping me understand the process.

I have reservations at Chef Mickey to start the trip off and I am happy to keep it that way......

Thank you guys for all your feedback!

Kim

What resort will you be staying at? If it is on the monorail, just play it by ear when DME drops you off. Even an extra hour just to see main street and shop might be nice.
