Can I get the free dining if I rent points?

My family and I are planning a trip for next Fall (2009). And I know for the past years Disney has offered a free dining with Magic My Way plans. Is this available for DVC member and is it possible to get if you are renting points from someone (assuming the offer next year too?)

Assuming it is possible - if I rent points from someone early and book the room(s) in October or December... they offer the Free dining plan come April -- do I need to contact the person I rented the points from to get the tickets/dining plan for me.

Or is it too much to ask from someone you are renting points from?

No, free dining has never been offered when staying on points.

You can get the Disney Dining Plan but you will have to pay for it.

Free dining is offered to those who pay rack rates through Disney hotels (not DVC points) and purchase MYW tickets.

You cannot get free dining on points. The only way to get free dining is to book a rack rate room/tickets package through WDW Travel (or have a travel agent do it for you).

When you are renting, you have the option to have the member you are renting from add the dining plan to your reservation for its regular price. The member can add the dining plan for you up to 2 days prior to your checkin date. You pay for the plan in full when you check in. Everyone on your room reservation age 3 and over must use the dining plan for the duration of your stay. You are not required to purchase tickets.

But a ticket purchase is not required with the purchase of the DDP.
