I'm interested in getting some crocs for myself and my 7yr old dd for our WDW trip that is in 12 more days. I had planned on us wearing skechers with cool max socks. But I know both me and dd will hate it. We are both flip flop wearing. Seems like crocs would be the answer for us. But really know nothing about them. Our there more then one brand? Does it matter which ones I get? Where is the best place to get them B&M and online? Cheapest place too. I've seen the names aspen, caymen and airwalk. Are these different brands? Just tell me all ya knw.
Thanks
Laura

Hey There---you're too close to your departure date to order online, but there are LOTS of stores that sell them, not sure of your location, but a lot of sporting goods stores sell them as well as places like "Dillards" which is a department store in our area and where I got ours.

To be honest, I don't like mine. I got the open toed, heel strap version, and the DH got the flip flop type. We just got back from HHI and my feet blistered, pretty badly, in about a 1.5 mile walk (WDW=about 15 miles per day) while the DH walked the same distance w/o getting blisters, but said that he wouldn't wear them to WDW.

You will get six and 1/2 dozen answers as to who LOVES them and who HATES them---my best advice is to buy them if you think you'll like them, but have a back up plan of a shoe that you KNOW you like for WDW.

I will probably wear my crocs again, but NEVER will I wear them when there is heavy duty walking, especially, when hot and humid temps are involved.

The best thing I've ever had on my feet at WDW were Nike tennis shoes, your pick, and a pair of Hanes socks, our first trip, I wore gold toe socks and had blisters EVERYWHERE! I think the ticket is SOFT, none thready socks and by ALL means, when you get back to your resort for a mid/late day break, take the socks and tennie pumps OFF, let those puppies breath!!!!!

Good luck!

We LOVE our Airwalks!! :thumbsup2 DD5 and I both hate the feeling of those little bumps inside of real Crocs, so when we tried the Airwalks we were in heaven. They also fee more "cushy" and less jelly like to me. I tested them out by wearing them to walk DD home from school one day (1 mile total) and they were as comfortable as my New Balances. And they come in the coolest tie dye/color swirl pattern! They have them at Payless Shoes and they're only 14.99. I suggest going to the mall and trying both them and Crocs and see what you think!

There are bumps inside the real crocs? Oh I know that won't work with dd's sensory disfunction. I think I'll run over to payless tomorrow to check out the airwalks. Thanks for the input!

I was looking at Crocs for my daughter, at my mall they were in the Hallmark store. I did see the bumps inside the shoes but they also sold cushion inserts to put in the shoes. So you may want to still check out the Crocs :wave2: . LOL

Try payless they have an off brand of crocs that are made in the same factory as the real crocs.

I love my Crocs! One thing though, even though most say that Crocs don't have to be worn in, IMO they do. I wore my almost brand new Crocs at WDW in March and was definitely beginning to get blisters the first day. I had to alternate between other shoes every other day to prevent it. For my trip Labor Day, I wore my Crocs every day with no problem. They were much softer after wearing them for months. Now, I just got a new pair(different color) and they are bothering me some. I'd say people should wear them for a few weeks before doing a lot of walking in them.

Where can you get the inserts for Crocs? I HATE the bumpy things, and have comsidered sanding the darn things off! I know they are supposed to make them more comfortable, but they irritate my feet until they are worn down some.

I saw the inserts at my local Hallmark Store. When I first looked at the shoes for my daughter, they did not sell them, but now they do. Maybe you can try to call the place that you bought yours & see if they sell them. :confused3

Croc lover here -

I also had the open toe style with the back strap, I got blisters because my feet "pronate" (My ankles turn 'in' like almost touch the ground when I stand barefoot) and my ankle turned in at the strap piece - gave them to my ds and he LOVES them!!

The flip flop style :thumbsup2 I just bought the new color - and I had "broken" in my boring blue pair, and was shocked at the "bumps" in the new ones, and how "slick" it felt on my foot - my old pair didnt feel that way - it took about an hour for my foot to "mold" the flip flop and the slickness was gone... I dont notice the bumps... but I'm sure if you have sensory difficulties, it will be noticable - dd loves the airwalks from payless (cool colors too)

my "regular" crocs, also, I did "break" them in, like my orthotics, I didnt overload my foot/knee/hip/back with walking "better" all at once, I did it an hour one day, two hours the next, than 3 or 4 hours - many many people have no issues in "breaking" them in, it depends on your walking style I think...also other posters report popping them in the dryer to 'warm' up the resin then wearing them, dont get them too hot....

other posters have reported using the "body glide" on their feet to prevent blisters - I dont get blisters on my feet, other "body parts" (ahem like thighs) that rub I do use the body glide - you can find it in sporting goods stores around the running gear - it looks like a container of deodarant!!
