Can I get away with no bag?

I have an 11-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old boy.

I think I would still need to go through the bagged security because we do have a stroller. But I'd love to not carry a bag this time.

Between my husband and me we do NEED our magic bands. One form of payment. Our phones and a portable charger.

I mean we can stick sweaters in the stroller right? Few wipes, ponchos and maybe water-bottles?

Am I forgetting anything?

DH and I are always bagless. It sounds like you have the essentials and can make do without. Don't forget your sunscreen, too!

We rarely take our stroller through the bag check. We do carry a small backpack. I go through bag check with it, and my DH pushes the stroller and walks with kids through bag less entry. Security may peek under the stroller, that's all. Mind you, there is nothing in the bottom. If you are going to put loose items in the stroller, you might as well pack a bag, as you will need to go through bag check.

YES!!! Absolutely! Pale Canadians in August... LOL. I guess I just need to get us some cargo shorts... Darn I wish more women's pants/shorts had pockets!

If the basket of the stroller has anything in it you will be directed to the bag check line. Why not pack a small string bag or simple backpack with sweaters, extra ponchos (for the stroller and that afternoon rainstorm if nothing else!) and other items that you could leave in the net bag in the stroller when not using? I say simple net/string bag because you will have to open all pockets of a backpack for bag check and I find that time consuming esp when there is nothing in those pockets :)

This way one parent can go through the bag check line with the stroller but pull out the bag to be quickly checked and move on. I have been reading that all guest in the no bag line are now being directed through the metal detector, and this was my experience in late April so it may not save you much time anymore. Honestly when we have people in our party who have bags we really don't wait that much longer for them even though it seems like a long time when your doing it.

So I have gone back to carrying a bag and not worrying about an extra 5 minutes to get into the parks.

Good to know - I didn't realize you could get away with bagless entry and a stroller. Wear sweaters in, pocket the sunscreen and wipes, hold the bottles and we are probably good. Hmmm, where to put the ponchos... LOL

True that, and really I'm more interested in being 'hands-free' than the bag check line as we are early-arrivers. Last time I just hated carrying the bag... Although I did buy one this year in a style and colour I could push on my hubby! LOL

Can you just leave the bag in the basket of the stroller and carry the valuables?

Yeah, I think I can. I'm just trying to think what I would have to/want to actually carry... for example as the mom (aka holder of all things) I should probably have some SPF lip balm on me... and that requires pockets or a bag as it would get lost in the stroller or be a pain to dig for.

One thing I find really difficult is finding shorts that fit me properly AND have pockets AND are comfortable.

Last time we went we didn't have smart phones, so we carried paper copies of our reservations/touring plan etc. That's not really needed anymore. So I'm realizing we will probably have a very empty bag.

I buy dollar store ponchos. They fit in a largish pocket. Or you can risk it and drop the money on Disney ponchos if needed.

How big are the Disney ponchos rolled up - compared to the dollar store ones? Where we are there end August - which I hear can be a Thunderstorm a day. I'm thinking it will be worthwhile to splurge for them as I hear they are more durable.

On another post others were advising me that you could bypass the bag check with a stroller even if you had a few items on the bottom like a change of clothes or diapers. Is this not the case?

We have travelled the last 2 Julys. Those daily storms still have only led to a few poncho uses. My kids prefer getting soaked to the ponchos, and we seem to often luck out with timing. I also think I will buy the Disney ponchos, but haven't needed to, so can't answer the size question.

If you're from Canada and going in August, you won't need to carry sweaters.

If you hunt, there are some guy cargo shorts that fit women just fine. You don't need sweaters in August. If you write your FP times and any ADRs on a piece of paper each morning, you don't have to check your phone quite as much and you won't need a charger for the phones. There are d ring clips you can buy that have a bottle cap holder on the end and they are great for helping carry a water bottle because you can attaché it to belt loop. Skip the ponchos. Bring some dollar store ones in case you need them at the start of a day. But, the small ones do fit in a guy's short pocket.

Now, if you skip the stroller, you will really know what freedom is!

They are starting to get more serious about bag checks. Even going through the 'no bag' line dh got singled our twice for the extra 'search'!! Those with 'full' cargo pants pockets will surely be extra 'eye balled'. Just be prepared!!

Sweaters? Probably pass on those. But I'll always take a bag for when on rides I don't want phone or wallet to slide out of pocket. Safer in closed bag.

I agree, August is soooo hot! Although my 12 year old actually said she was cold inside a resturant our last trip in August. I told her she was the only person I ever heard of being cold at Disney in August :rotfl:
